Olivaresque at the Time of Revolutions

She is concerned with governance and performance, and not with popularity,’’
---Gary Olivar, the presidential economic spokesperson, quoted from the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) article today.

Another classic Olivaresque*. Quite amusing, especially coming from a former activist turned apologist of bungling leaders.

*Olivaresque /olivar'rescue/a term meaning a pitiful sigh, a singular attempt at rationalising ineptitude; also used to describe rescuing a 50 year old damsel in distress.
Okey. So, Mrs. Arroyo got a negative 38% rating, according to the Social Weather Stations (SWS). The third quarter 2009 survey of SWS, conducted from September 18 to 21, 2009 found that 62% of 1,800 Filipinos were dissatisfied with Mrs. Arroyo's performance, while 23% were satisfied. Her rounded net rating fell minus 38%, a rating which SWS says "its bad". July of 2008, Mrs. Arroyo got battered beyond recognition with a minus 50%.

Quoting SWS from an Inquirer article:

“The President’s overall satisfaction rating fell due to worsening dissatisfaction in the rest of Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, and continued high dissatisfaction in Metro Manila,” SWS said.

Okey, so Malacanang just shrugged this off, saying that Mrs. Arroyo is concerned with her "PERFORMANCE." Really? What kind? Where? Who is she performing to?

Who is she doing all these things? For us? For foreigners?

Did she performed her job well in averting a flood disaster in Metro Manila and other provinces? We all know what happened to 3 million Filipinos during Ondoy and now it continues to Pepeng. Did she prepared for any contingency? The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) says only 100 million pesos left from the 2 billion peso emergency fund. Teofisto Guingona III says you spent 1.9M for foreign trips. Did all those trips generate more than 2 billion pesos for the Philippines?

Gary Olivar forgets that his/her principal MRS. GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO performs FOR THE PEOPLE. THE FILIPINO PEOPLE IS THE SOLE JUDGE IF SHE'S DOING THE RIGHT THING OR IS BUNGLING HER JOB BECAUSE MRS. ARROYO'S PERFORMANCE IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR THE PEOPLE, NOT FOR ANYONE ELSE.

Filipinos don't lie. In fact, we say what we really feel. When 62% says they are hungry because of lack of economic opportunities available for them to generate funds for food, they are telling you the truth.

When 62% says that government has billions even trillions of pesos under its disposal and certain officials just use these for their own personal interests or steal it and stash it abroad and the leader of the cabal points to the president's hubby, they are telling us the truth.

When 62% disagree with using emergency funds to fund lavish dinners and parties abroad, under the guise of generating foreign investors' interest in the country, they, obviously, are telling you the truth.

So you see, Mr. Olivar, it's quite obvious that the Filipinos are dissatisfied and they don't feel that Mrs. Arroyo has accomplished what she needs to accomplish as Chief Executive.

These surveys, Mr. Olivar, and I know you are familiar, since you were once AIM professor, are like HR Performance Assessment form. You were given a set of KPAs and KPIs, and obviously MRS. ARROYO fell miserably.

THIS ALSO CONFIRMS THE EXISTENCE OF A REVOLUTIONARY SITUATION, WITH THE FINAL ARBITER DECIDING TO OUST MRS. ARROYO.

Ladies and gentlemen, members of this Republic of Filipinos---the time is at hand. Let us all form the Board of Directors of the Republic and serve the resignation papers for our CEO.
