Kyla Ross and growing up Pinoy

Kyla Ross sounds entirely a name of an American. She, however, has Filipino blood. Her mother is a Filipina-Puerto Rican mother and an African-American Japanese father.

The sixteen year old just won a gold Olympic medal, something which has eluded us since the very start of this global athletic event. Ross is a gymnast, again, something which several Pinoy sports observers say, we have a big chance of getting some gold of our own.

I was wondering--if Hawaii was able to nurture such a big talent as Kyla and honed her to become what she is right now, a phenom in a sport where Filipinos can really excel on, why can't we?

I mean, we do have excellent gyms here. We have people who understand gymnastics. We have trained Filipino coaches who understand how to make it to the top. Don't tell me that we don't have the likes of Kyla here?

Look at Ross' photos and you'll feel how enthusiastic and how full of hope she really is.

Had Kyla grew up here, would she get the same thing? We probably got our gold medal.

  1. Will she ever save the Philippine Olympic Team and inspire them to win Olympic medals like Filipino American soccer player Tiffany Roberts did in 1996 when the Philippines won three medals as well as a silver in boxing?

Thank you very much for reading my blog. You inspired me. But if you intend to put your name "anonymous", better not comment at all. Thanks!
