Johnnie Walker and Sons Odyssey unveiling spectacular

Johnnie Walker and Son's Voyager yatch
Eighty years ago, the newly constructed Johnnie Walker and Sons' whiskey yacht sailed from Europe to the iconic docks of Manila. Back then, Manila was still a cosmopolitan port city. It was known throughout Europe and Asia as the "Venice of Asia", with its European inspired architecture and scenic parks and iconic houses. Asians were co-mingling with Europeans in a city that is pulsing with activity and energy.

Fast-forward, and the iconic yacht is back, this time, docking in a city without the look and feel of Europe but still pulsing with vibrant energy as it faces the daunting challenges of the new century. Manila, is still the most promising city in the whole of the region, with several of its European-inspired architecture, replaced by high-rise buildings and modern architecture which fused the East and the West.

The yacht that have seen events of history
Inspite the obvious changes in the landscape, one thing remains--the Filipinos love for fine whiskey. Yes, and its Johnnie Walker.

Manila was some of the first cities which Johnny Walker visited to sell his finest Scotch whiskey. Like Glasgow, Manila was a port city now being transformed into a global cosmopolitan city. Filipinos love the exquisite taste of Scotland's finest and most loved whiskey. Fact is, it is not just Scots who love their whiskeys from Johnnie--its Manilenos too.

I remember during Erap's time that Johnnie Walker Black was his favorite whiskey. I remember my uncles especially the one who worked in Saudi Arabia during the eighties and seventies, brought Johnnie Walker black label and shared it with the rest of the family.

I tasted Johnnie Walker and Son's Blue label last night, along with friends from social circles. It is quite sweet, heavenly sweet. There is no strong smell, only the smell of a finely blended concoction, a testament of man's creativity in harnessing the finest ingredients to create what is now, the world's best tasting and beloved drink.

Would you just love drinking this fine concoction aboard an iconic yacht where Princes and Princesses, Dukes and Duchesses, Kings and Queens and Ministers and Presidents once rode and like you, drank the night away?

Last night was a good one, because the show was perfect (kudos to the Eon team for a job well done!). David Celdran was a fine hosts and everybody was spectacular.
