Janet Lim-Napoles now demands that she will only cooperate with government as a state witness. She says that she does not want a plea bargaining agreement.
Wow. So, government is offering Lim-Napoles a plea bargaining agreement, the same thing Mrs. Tuason, her dear friend, entered into. Tuason paid government 40 million pesos just to struck her name out of those charged with crimes relating to the pork barrel scam.
Why is government so desperate to help Napoles be a state witness? The reason is quite obvious.
Government fears that probably, they don't have sufficient case against those tagged as co-accused with Napoles. What government had right now are testimonies from alleged whistleblowers and several documents. Yet, admittedly, government needs the testimony or affidavit of Lim-Napoles since she is the one who directly transacted those deals with these politicians, not Benhur Luy.
The thing is, the President himself already said that it is next to impossible for government to accept Napoles as state witness, prejudging the case already and announced something which the public is being asked to accept.
There is now a relentless campaign to justify turning Napoles into a state witness. Look at how Napoles' lawyer, Atty. Bruce Rivera does the rounds. He is being interviewed right and left and even doctors of Napoles are being interviewed to support efforts for the defense not to allow Mrs. Napoles to go back to Sta Rosa jail.
What we are witnessing right now is something despicable. Imagine, the very one who masterminded this scheme is now on the offensive, in terms of propaganda.
She is now on the verge of retaining those billions she stole from the government and probably, and eventually even be turned into a hero. What a bummer.
