Dr. James Dy saves the day for Filipinos in Taiwan

President Aquino sent his trusted buddy, former Senator Mar Roxas to Taiwan one more time to "fix the loose ends" in the relationship of the Philippines and Taiwan.

What people don't know is that, weeks prior to this trip, a Filipino-Chinese Philantropist already made a momentous trip to Taiwan to save the jobs of some 90,000 Overseas Filipino Workers there.

Nope, I am not referring to Henry Sy, the country's real estate magnate.

I am talking about Dr. James G. Dy, owner of Chinese General Hospital and President of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Yes, it was Dy who used his strong connections with businessmen from Taiwan and asked that the suspension be lifted. In no time at all, the Taiwanese government lifted the job suspension and eased the tension between the two countries.

Now, I'm curious to know what else will Mar Roxas do in Taiwan, when the issue has already been repaired.

  1. Why is it then that Mar Roxas has taken the credit for this feat by Dr. James Dy. Doctor Dy's name has never been mentioned in ABS-CBN news reports. It seemed that Senator Roxas has stolen the thunder from the doctor.
