Impeachment of Gutierrez vested President Aquino full powers as the undisputed Political Leader in RP

Gloria Arroyo, the woman once voted as one of the most powerful in the world, sits there, puffy eyes and all. She watched as her former allies impeached the classmate of her corrupt husband, the only puritan left remaining of the rag-tag barung clad army of grafters.

210 Congressmen voted, some of them belonging and once considered themselves as arse-lickers of the Arroyos, now "reformers" and "walkers of the straight road".

These Congressmen voted shortly after the head of government ordered that the Ombudsman's head, Merceditas Gutierrez be cut off.

The former powerful woman watched helplessly in the sidelines, while the charade unfolds itself right before her eyes. She uttered some unintelligible words to her colleague, always with her cellphone in her hands, showing signs of tension and fear.

Who were those people whom Arroyo called? Was she calling her husband, who caused all these problems in the first place?

The scene just showed to all that the transition of power is over.

That full power has been vested to the new president, Noynoy Aquino. That the House is now Aquino territory.

There are, however, malicious insinuations that majority voted for impeachment in exchange for a resolution calling for a reburial of the remains of former president Marcos to the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

It remains to be seen if the Senate does the same thing. Law professor Paguia says in a Facebook update that Merceditas Gutierrez will survive the Senate impeachment trial. I doubt it.

IMpeachments are political processes, never really strictly legal. Yes, the Senators will act as judges and yes, these representatives of the Filipino People must act as judiciously as a court judge.

Experience and past events show that this is not the case in impeachments.

A re-alignment of power will unfold itself during the Senate trial.

Senators will vote against Gutierrez not because they strictly adhere to the Liberal way, but their previous acts and pronouncements already show their partiality for the impeachment of GUtierrez.

I doubt if 14 senators will inhibit themselves from this highly charged political event.

Senator Loren Legarda (Nacionalista)---definitely will vote for impeachment.
Senator Pia Cayetano (Nacionalista)---will vote with her conscience and for impeachment.
Senator Ed Angara (LDP)---of course, impeachment.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano---definitely, since he headed the committee that recommended charges be filed against perpetuators of graft and corrupt practices
Senator Joker Arroyo--nevermind him. He just shitted himself in the pants, according to several people.
Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri---will he or will he not toe the partyline, considering that even his own members at the HOuse voted for impeachment.
Senator Juan Ponce Enrile---probably, yes.
Senators Ping Lacson, Gregorio Honasan, Antonio Trillianes, Kiko Pangilinan, Frank Drilon, Teofisto Guigona III.

The ones whom I expect to vote against the impeachment are: Lapid, Defensor-Santiago, Arroyo, and possibly, Revilla.
