Heard from highly knowledgeable sources that Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's "anointed" stands to gain FORTY (40) BILLION PESOS worth of campaign funds in 2010. Wow.
Previous presidential campaigns only cost 2 billion pesos. With this, Gloria and her minions upped the ante a humongous bit. Where did she got those billions?
Let me count the ways....
1. From private individuals who gained billions from the SSS fund infusion, allegedly part of the "stimulus" fund to protect the country from the effects of the global recession.
2. From public funds. As I wrote in previous entries, the Arroyo gang of misfits stand to gain at least US$ 1 billion from various government projects.
3. From illegal sources----lagays from smugglers at the Customs, lagays from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and from jueteng. Remember Chavit Singson co-manages the country's intelligence agency. A big-time jueteng lord says that the entire country is now under Chavit's ambit.
4. From foreign sources---foreign contractors of defense projects, etc.
So, you see, that's why Defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro salivates on getting that "blessing" from Mrs. Arroyo. Many sees it as a "curse", a "kiss of death". Yes, it is, IF THE ELECTIONS ARE SPOT CLEAN.
In an election such as what would surely happen in 2010, a 40 billion peso election kitty is something very serious and nothing to sneeze at. Literally, you could turn a baron or a petty citylord into your servant in seconds.
Question---will the Opposition top it all up? Or will they also take the bait and give everything on the table? A coup is cheaper than an election....
Greetings!
