SLAMAT LORRD party

SLAMAT LORRD volunteers and candidates celebrated a joyous event last night at the Big Tent in Quezon City. Liberal party campaign manager Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan threw a party for the people behind the campaign. Though only four out of the 12 candidates won seats in the Senate, Pangilinan said that it was a successful campaign because of the imminent win of the LP's standard bearer, Noynoy Aquino.

Pangilinan also reiterated the call of continuous engagement by the people. " The fight is not over", says Pangilinan. " Winning is easy, but governing is not. "

True, Noynoy has to prove a lot. The overwhelming mandate given by the people shows they trust him to make substantial changes. And change will not happen if the people who elected him will just revert to their ordinary lives and leave the governing to the victor.

Each candidate was allowed to speak. Alex Lacson was there, along with General Danny Lim. They congratulated the people who helped them in the campaign. Nerick Acosta came, Ruffy Biazon also and Muslim advocate Yasmin Lao. One of the early people who graced the event was Akbayan's Riza Hontiveros who made a good showing in the recently concluded polls.

What made my day was Dr. Martin Bautista's video, it was hilarious. Everyone laughed. He's such a joker. More on him later.

2013 is just around the corner and I truly expect these people to try it again. Reason is simple--its easier to campaign for a Senate seat in a mid-term elections than a presidential or synchronized elections. BY 2013, if Lacson still wants it, I along with the rest of my friends, will again campaign for him.

Despite the fanfare, some people were evidently disappointed with the poll showing of Mar Roxas. Roxas, by this time, is still fighting for the vice presidential slot. Makati mayor Jejomar Binay's lead is just 600,000 votes. There are still 2 million votes left to be counted.

It would be sweet if Roxas wins. That will complete the change train. It will be a continuing destabilization if Binay wins. Yet, only a miracle can actually save Roxas from defeat.
