IMpeachment against OMbudsman---a test of Arroyo

Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez has been sacrificed. Yes, she was. And all for Major General Carlos Garcia. We will never know (at least I know) publicly who are really the group behind the General Thief.

Why is President Aquino adamant in revealing the name of General Garcia's backer(s)? Is the President afraid of a backlash from the group? At least in this site, I gave some "hints" as to who these might be.

I think that the Supreme Court was convinced to "let go" of Merceditas Gutierrez to further protect the names of those really and seriously involved in the Garcia case. Yes, maybe the Ombudsman is really "guilty" of the accusations hurled against her, some of which involves taking a vacation whenever cases against her classmate, the First Gentleman are filed. But, you know, we have a system, and the system, I think, prevents the Ombudsman from really doing her job the best that she can.

Anyway, let us see. Several Congressman thinks that Gutierrez ought to be impeached. After her impeachment, what then? How about those public prosecutors who favored the plea bargaining agreement? They must be charged criminally and civilly since several witnesses have come forward, alleging that these people ignored glaring pieces of evidence linking Garcia to money laundering and graft.

If the House votes, this will then be an occasion for the Arroyo group to really know who are still siding with them, and who are, well, already crossed the fence.

An impeachment of Gutierrez will know if the name "Madame Arroyo" still packs a punch. After Gutierrez, who's next?
