Last stab at Mio Cruz' "Polytheism"

MIO CRUZ's art exhibit which he hopes audiences to shockingly remember how Pinoys worship several idols, is not describing "polytheism", oh no.

Yes, literally, polytheism is the worship of many gods. But what Mio is trying to say is not reflective of reality. If you say that Filipinos practice polytheism, you are trying to say that ALL Filipinos are polytheists which is definitely false.

What Mio Cruz is trying to describe is philistinism, the propensity of individuals to worship material things and ascribe values to them. If he titled this in his art, that aptly describes what he did.

Unfortunately, he just aims to shock, not to enrich intellectual debate. That's the problem with today's art. They forgot that art has value or values and not everything that we form in our minds can be considered art.
