Tourism secretary Lim's resignation not a suprise

If you want to increase tourist numbers in this country, go and replace Bertie Lim. He does not know what to do.

That's the problem with those who just commented and ranted and just knows how to manipulate the people's emotions to oust someone in office--some of them are just ranting, and when the time comes for them to govern, they simply don't know what to do.

Bertie Lim was an active member of the oust GMA movement for more than nine years. When Aquino took power, Lim, together with Vicente Emano and some of the Black and White Movement members, took over the Department of Tourism.

The assumption is, they're all artists and propagandists and the job at the department would be a walk in the park. What happened was the opposite.

They just know how to rant and they really do not have the right ideological perspective as to how to promote our country. They have their own idea, sure. Yet, these ideas are as old as their great grandmothers.

IMAGINE telling foreigners "tara na!" or "Pilipinas Kay Ganda!". These are mediocre ideas. Tourism aims to entice foreigners to come into our shores and enjoy themselves here. Using the terms "Tara na!" simply does not hack it. The term has a double meaning: it means let's go and the other means, a very corrupt practice. In street lingo, tara means "toll" or "fee".Are you telling foreigners to give you some "toll" or "fee"?

The most important aspect of communication is being totally clear of what you intend to say. They probably had good intentions, but in terms of communicating it, they simply do not have the chops.

Lim is better off in research or in some other ranting activity.
