Arroyos to spend Christmas in jail

Yesterday's FOCAP meeting with the President was revealing as it is instructive. Many questions were propounded to the President, from the philosophical (what's your stand on the Marcos, RH bill issues) to the inane ("Mr President, how are you in the PS3 gaming circuit?). Yet, two things caught my attention: the President addressing issues that hounded two intriguing historical personalities of this country.

First, issues surrounding his predecessor and former professor, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. No one made any negative comment when Noynoy vowed that charges will be filed against Arroyo by next month. Arroyo, who is now in sickbay, is being charged with rigging those elections. Many sectors say Arroyo will be made to suffer like Erap did when he was ousted in a coup late in his three-year rule. Charges filed against the Arroyos are non-bailable. So, expect to see Mr. and Mrs. Arroyo facing a string of policemen and being photographed and then being hauled to the nearest jail. That would hug the headlines by November. Some sources say, the President wants to see the couple spend Christmas in jail.

Of course, that is, if the Arroyos choose not to go to Portugal or the United States for asylum. Former presidential son Mikey Arroyo said he will stay here, along with his wife, who is now charged with tax evasion, the same case that plummelled Capote.

Several sources say, Mrs. Arroyo is now very frail, weakened by her operations. She cannot move her right side because of the pain. Many people say probably Mrs. Arroyo would be allowed to seek treatment abroad, and only the First Gentleman would spend time in jail. Really, people don't care who suffers what. The most important thing is, the people's thirst for justice, that long nine years of insanity, be meted with the proper treatment. And the only possible solution is incarceration.

Next issue....the Marcos burial.
