An influential business group is moving tomorrow to unmask what is reputedly the biggest smuggler in the Phil. And his name is Davidson Tan Bangayan.
Numerous reports from the Philippine Daily Inquirer only identified him as a certain "David Tan" without naming him properly. I asked several sources and found that this David Tan is not a pure Filipino-Chinese, and his real surname is not Tan but Bangayan.
Bangayan has reportedly operated for three administrations already. His biggest operations happened during the Arroyo administration.
He is reputedly very influential, because, of some talks about his alleged links with a brother-in-law of a High Government Official. Many Customs insiders say Bangayan is also reportedly supporting several high-profile financiers in their operations inside the agency.
