Philippine army armory fire linked to on-going guns deal probe in US?

Several fire fighters are still nursing their wounds shortly after being injured in the fire that struck the Philippine army armory yesterday. Military authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.

Witnesses say a powerful blast attended the fire which began at the explosives and ordnance (EOD) battalion building of the Army Support Command (Ascom) inside the Philippine Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City.

At least twenty five persons were injured. Fortunately, no one died.

Curiously, the fire happened at the time when the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the House of Representatives and even the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States are investigating the arms deal which involved several military officers and a US Filipino-American senator.

Senator Leland Yee is being probe for trying to smuggle guns from the Philippines to the United States. Reports say, several officers of the AFP are involved in alleged sale of weapons to insurgents. Yee tried and failed to buy those arms from his Fil-am contact, who happens to be an arms dealer.

The dealer confessed that he buys arms from the AFP and sells it to Muslim insurgents.

Now that the fire happened, will this affect the on-going probe?
