Aside from an expected further rise of prices of oil and foodstuffs, 2019 is most likely to be the year when Philippine democracy is to be put in its most severest test. If we don't act in the most appropriate manner by May of 2019, we might actually see ourselves under an autocratic regime which would allow foreign forces to actually manage these lands under their shadow.
Don't blame me if this happens.
Many analysts see the 2019 mid-term elections as a test for President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's administration. I see 2019 beyond this. Mr. Duterte is only one factor here. I see 2019 as a penultimate test of how resilient or how weak our democracy is. It is not about Mr. Duterte's legitimacy as a leader that is the main concern of this 2019 mid-term election--it is the entire legitimacy of our democratic processes that will be put under tremendous stress by next year.
Be forewarned--- several serious anti-democratic forces, these so-called right-wing elements are fast consolidating themselves to achieve their objective of snatching political power right under the noses of the incumbent administration.
These elements want nothing more than centralize all power into their hands. Okey if the motivation is at best patriotic, but honestly, it is not. The booty is worth trillions of dollars for the victorious bunch and the right to govern 101 million souls---a huge market if you ask me.
These hungry wolves were born without brains and equipped with demons' hearts. They felt that they were deprived of opportunities by this system and they want nothing more than see this system burn, but not first stealing every penny inside that huge public chest.
It's okey if these gentlemen and a lady want nothing more than see a better country afterwards. The thing is, these people only want to enrich themselves while being praised and feted by a starry-eyed Hollywood celebrity worshipping mob. This is not about love of country--this is about love of money and the Mammon of celebrity.
Worse, we will probably see ourselves being handed over to one of three superpowers. We currently have a very weak state, and weak states such as ours are ripe for the picking.
A superpower does not need to mobilize thousands of its armed men to a territory and physically rule it. No.
It only needs a pliant polity to agree and believe in the numbers posted in an electronic billboard, showing the winning teams for our local government units and our legislature.
Be forewarned--this so-called "winning teams" may actually be stooges of a foreign power now salivating to conquer us either by flooding our immigration gates of them millions or thru proxies willing to sell their Filipino identities and souls just to get billions worth of windfall.
There is sufficient evidence to believe that some of those running national and local posts are actually members of a foreign political party or at the minimum, Filipinos being fed thru the mouth by aggressive imperialists cloaked in angelic robes.
Who are these traitors of the Inang Bayan? These are those who are willing to hand this country over to foreigners in exchange for enormous economic concessions.
This mid-term elections is not just about Mr. Duterte, oh no.
This is about how much do we love freedom and how much do we really love these lands where we first saw the light. If we don't prepare and if we loosen our guards, we might actually see ourselves enslaved once more by a foreign power.
