There is something exciting happening right now at the world's top beach destination, Boracay. Twenty four beach volleyball teams are now competing in the annual Nestea Beach Volleyball championship tourney at Club Paraw in sunny Bora.
If you don't know Club Paraw, it's at Station 1 within Barangay Balabag in Bora island. The restaurant is known for serving Jamaican, Asian and European cuisines. You can order your favorite sea food either grilled or steamed. Try their pasta dishes, it's truly awesome.
Anyway, this year's event boast of the industry's top beach volleyball athletes. To celebrate summer, Nestea has packaged this year's attendees with awesome parties and get-togethers. International rapper Sean will provide the spunk and funk.
Nestea is also aware of the slow effects of global warming and pollution in today's seas and oceans. That's why Nestea will spearhead a beach cleanup in Bora, together with top celebrities and models.
This is very exciting. I just hope that my friends enjoy their days there in Bora. It's now April and summer lovers only have at least one month to celebrate this year's summer.
If you're now in Bora, catch the Nestea beach volleyball tourney now! Head out at Club Paraw.

High Society Scam
Before that scandalous declaration of martial law in the 70's, people in high society were partying like crazy. Some of those who survived that era remember that time when the Lopezes were hosting parties left and right, in their palaces of pleasure, with wines flowing out of their fountains.
If Brian Gorrell is to be believed, Manila's jet-setting, high rollers are also doing the same shit their parents did in their prime. And I don't blame them. They're totally dysfunctional. Being rich is dysfunctional. Too much money in their hands. Too much coke in their heads (if this Australian gay guy is to be believed though).
When I was teaching history to a bunch of rich kids in one of Manila's top universities, I was exposed to this. I admit being friends with a lot of society people. They do party. They do kid around. They do use drugs. But they don't do what these "Gucci" group allegedly did--deprive this poor HIV-positive gay guy of his life's savings.
Drugs are crackers to these people. They have so much money to spend that they use this to buy happiness.
I remember so many incidents of socialites being raided because of drugs. When I was a beat reporter then, I used to cover so many instances of arrests of these druggies belonging to rich and known families. They were eventually freed and did not even spend a single month in jail. Maybe their parents put them in rehab. Some probably were exiled somewhere in the States.
People know Bora as a druggie's paradise. The reason why its so popular is its liberal drug-oriented culture. I know of some rich guys and gals going to Bora just to get their high. The police is sooo lax there that these rich guys don't give a damn. Bora is RP's version of Phuket or Bangkok. You can do whatever you want for as long as you have money and you have a short surname.
Everybody knows Tim Yap's a fraud. That's why he was kicked out of Inquirer. His articles suck. Its not even near the quality of Patricia Evangelista's writings. I was surprised though to learn that some of PhilStar's editors are junkies. It pains me to even read stuff about this because I know a lot of PhilStar editors and reporters and really, they are NOT junkies.
People in my industry treat lifestyle writers and editors with respect. The buzz is, the main section editors are the ones dirty. With Brian's tell-all blog, I have lost all respect to these so-called writers, especially from the lifestyle section of the Star. I heard PhilStar has fired two of their reporters and editors. Good riddance. With this scandal flying off the pan so to speak, its time for the PhilStar to make those changes. And fast!
Compared with these lifestyle wannabe writers, my section editor and reporter friends are angels. Yet, one glaring fact should be done.
Purge the industry with these scumbags and scammers. Cleanse the filth they caused.

Contemplation
Yesterday, OFW groups commemorated the death anniversary of Flor Contemplacion. Some years ago, Flor was made a symbol of the OFW struggle. Her life was shown in full color before the eyes of her suffering people. She died in the gallows but remains as a living spirit in all of us.
I myself, was an OFW. I worked for many years in Singapore. And being there, I saw none of the hardships of Flor. In fact, I found Singapore a true haven of good opportunities for those with a stout heart and will to see oneself rise above everything. Singapore gave me a new lease of life. The lessons I learned from Singapore, I will keep in my heart forever.
In the next few days while we celebrate the passion of Christ, let us take a rest for a while and contemplate. Be it be in Boracay or in your own home, it's time for us, everyone, to discover God. God does now dwell in man-made structures, like Churches. The Bible says that the Spirit of God does not live in temples because one cannot contain the Spirit of God.
God exists everywhere. And for us to really know God, we must discover God within us. How do we do that?
Prayer. Don't pray if you only want to ask for something. Use prayer like a personal wireless communication device. Pray to communicate with God each and every facet of your life now. Pray even when you feel high spirited. It's your own small way of thanking God for all the blessings God has given you.
Meditate. Go to a silent corner. Close your eyes. Breathe slowly. Imagine that you're in a comfortable place. Imagine that you are in the presence of God. While you're in that state, seek for the Light. You'll find that in that state of meditation, there's a tunnel of Light before you. Go to that Light.
Do good. Keep the Commandments. Go beyond what is expected of you by God. Just remember the original message of God--help the poor, the orphans and the widows in their time of affliction. By following this, you'll surely not be swayed in the wrong direction.
Spread the message of God. The message of God is simple--Worship the One True God. Salvation comes from the One True God. There is No God but One God. And that God exists in proto-reality. I know. I have experienced it. I was an Atheist for eight years. I broke my Atheism because of my personal experience. Share your experience with God and do so without being "spiritual". Tell your friends about your personal story. And they, like you, will definitely experience God.
For the next few days and weeks, take part in the movement for contemplation. Together, let us re-discover our hiya, our morality, our decency as a people. We lost this valuable treasure due to our materialism. Do away with this. Do away with greed. Show the world how it is to be Filipinos, not a Macabebe.
