Lito Atienza wants to be known as the last survivor of the August 21 Plaza Miranda bombing. Apart from that, he wants to steal the thunder from Mar Roxas, the President of the Liberal Party by publishing ads that says that the Kabataang Liberal ng Pilipinas or KALIPI (uncannily similar or sounds similar to "MAKAPILI") recognizes Lito Atienza as the "true" leader of the Liberal Party.
Whatever Mar Roxas says that Atienza's actions were "shameful" and "indecent", the fact of the matter is, those ads cast aspersions to the party. It has attained its purpose, and that is, create "intrigue" and sow dissension among the Liberal Party ranks. Even if the Supreme Court and the COMELEC already recognized the Roxas-led party, these ads were never really intended to question the legality of the issue. Those ads were meant to show the public that leadership in the Liberal is fractured, and by being fractured, it shows weakness. Whatever Mar says, he must address this as quickly as possible because it sends a wrong message to non-card carrying supporters of his party.
Atienza is doing us a great disservice by sowing intrigue and disinformation. Those ads should have never been allowed published by those newspapers, simply because it is un-TRUTHFUL ADVERTISEMENT.
