" Where's the president? Why is she absent in this historic event? Why is she not here? This is history. Does she not have the courtesy at all to report in person?"
This was the remark of Maguindanao Congressman Dilagen Dilangalen during the very first joint session of Congress last night. Mrs. Arroyo was conspicuously absent since Proclamation 1959 was declared. And legislators noted that even the proclamation was signed by no less than the president's alter-ego, Executive secretary Eduardo Ermita.
At least, mrs. arroyo's idol, former president ferdinand marcos was brave enough to face the people and even he himself, read his own Proclamation 1081 placing the entire Philippines under martial law. i just remember one Tagalog saying---one who knows for himself that he did wrong definitely finds it very hard to face the crowd.
Maybe Mrs. Arroyo is being pricked by her "conscience", seeing that she issued a very erroneous declaration just to pursue her penultimate plan of extending her term beyond 2010.
Or, maybe Mrs. Arroyo is in some hospital somewhere, undergoing another boob job? Residents of Lubao would love that. :-)
