Noynoy Aquino leads other presidentiables, even in cyberspace

Noynoy Aquino, the top contender for the presidency, is leading even in Cyberspace. He has surpassed the 200,000 mark in terms of number of fans and supporters. He is being followed by Nacionalista party bet Manny Villar. While, at the bottom of the rung, former president Joseph Estrada.

It remains to be seen though if these encouraging numbers would translate into votes. Historically, as in the case of Senator Antonio Trillianes IV, these online supporters usually vote for their preferences.

According to studies made by AC Nielsen and other marketing agencies, social marketing is fast gaining ground. Social marketing is effective because it is engaging, meaning, unlike television, markets respond in a more personal and intimate manner online. 200,000 supporters mean 200,000 people. PCs and laptops are usually 1-is-1, so when someone uses social marketing as one means to reach his target audience, he usually achieves what he wants in so-short a time.

Let me reiterate my fearless forecast---Noynoy Aquino is the next president of the Philippines. He will win in a clean elections. He will still win even in a fraudulent one if he leads the people in protest actions. Manny Villar will definitely come close in the final stretch but not enough to post a win.

In the vice presidential race, it would be Mar Roxas by a squeaker. Supporters of traditional politics, led by the FVR group will help Loren Legarda. But, for the second time, Legarda's campaign will sputter in the end game.

  1. I just hope for the Philippines sake your forecast for this upcoming elections are incorrect. The Philippines needs a strong, seasoned, capable leader who will be able to lead the Philippines from day one. There has been nothing presented to the people besides a seemingly undying love and adoration for his parents, to show that Noynoy has either the ability or the charisma of a true leader that is so dearly required.
