Worse, Customs Collector IV Lowell Lomuljo Medija who recently flunked a lifestyle check and slapped with criminal and administrative charges by the Office of the Ombudsman, was spared from the reshuffle and remains as district collector of the Mindanao Container Terminal.
It seems that Alvarez is really serious in ridding Customs of corrupt men. Pooh! Spit!
Alvarez promised to feature several officials slapped with charges every single week. Yet, the Aquino administration is getting a year older, and no single big fish has been jailed or incarcerated.
As they say in the BOC...we are still open for business.
Let the facts show you how stupid Alvarez is.
Medija is the latest catch in the wide dragnet set up by the Finance Revenue Integrity Protection Service (RIPS) in cracking down erring Customs personnel.
RIPS said he was found to have amassed unexplained wealth and properties with his annual gross income of R511,668.
According to RIPS, he had acquired ample wealth consisting of prime properties in Davao City.
Among them are two newly constructed mansions in South Royal Pines-Matina, a house and lot in Talomo Bucana Moonland Subdivision, a residential lot in Toril Eden Mountain Haven Subdivision, a 5.5 hectare agricultural tract of land with various plantations of pomelos, bananas and mangoes, six poultry buildings, and a piggery.
In addition, Medija also owns 16 vehicles consist of Ford Explorer Wagon, Toyota Fortuner Wagon, Toyota Land Cruiser, Honda Civic Sedan, Nissan Silvia Sedan, Honda Hatchback Sedan, Mazda Tribute 2, as well as Isuzu cargo trucks and utility vans, and a Honda motorcycle.
NOW, IS THIS THE STRAIGHT ROAD THAT PRESIDENT NOYNOY AQUINO WANTS?
Aquino should immediately fire Alvarez. He is a thorn in the government's efforts at cleansing the Bureau of inept and corrupt officials.
Aquino should not worry. Aquino should stop granting favors to those who gave millions to fund his electoral campaign. His administration is getting a year older and I think that a year of giving favors to allies is more than enough. They have probably recovered their investments and more.
How can the Aquino Govt say that they are against corruption in the govt?
ReplyDeleteIs Pnoy really sincere in his promise to the people?? The case of Medija is a slap in the face of the Filipinos. What the RIPS found out about his unexplained wealth is just a tip of the iceberg. The property in Sto Tomas is not 5.5has BUT 50.5 has. There are 5 lots in Royal Pines Subd, two of which were built by mansions already. His mansion is worth around P100M. Now, what about the mansion in Multinational Village in Manila with 8 cars inside? and, what about their bank deposits? Inspite of all these, he was still promoted by ALVAREZ? Was the commissioner bought by Medija? Is this govt going to the DOGS?
Please check also a mansion in Manaybanay, Davao Oriental for his `18 yr old` friend and one in Gen. Santos, also for his `dear` friend.
ReplyDeleteAll these came from people`s money. And yet, he was still promoted?? Do you mean to tell us, all the news items about his being slapped with administrative charges and suspended from office ARE ALL FOR SHOW??
The wife of Medija was also a former BOC Adm. Officer in davao city. After an audit by the COA. there were anomalous transactions that she entered into, thus, she was advised to have a graceful exit.
ReplyDeleteThis is really CONJUGAL THIEVERY to the highest degree.
Hmmm...that's all for the court to decide whether or not lahat ng mga ari-arian is legit or not...anyway, nawalan na ako ng trust and confidence with the government and sa mga critics ne2...pare-pareho lang sila...
ReplyDeleteanonymous,
ReplyDeletethere is still hope. not all critics of government are the same as those who previously donned the critics' cap but in truth and in fact, were people who came from the same mold.
ang ampatuan case nga na maraming namatay, ang BAGAL ng usad ng kaso, eto pa kayang kay medija.. baka nga one of these days magising lang tayo na promoted na siya to an undersecretary position! so dapat talaga huwag tayo makalimot, we should always be vigilant! dapat ma suspend na yang si medija pending the case! baka madagdagan pa ang na kurakot niya!
ReplyDeleteAm from the private sector and my boss is an australian who has been in the country for more than 20 years already. and, it pains me no end when the foreigners will say that FILIPINOS ARE CORRUPT!! i see no hope in the philippines even if how much we try to dispel the notion that we are corrupt because those in the govt are really milking the coffers of the govt in the expense of the filipino people. Lets see what the govt will do in the case of medija. Because even if how much you multiply their income to the umptenth degree (legal and legit only)they cannot have the kind of wealth that they have now. And, mind you, Lowel Medija moves around with 3 security guards to boot.
ReplyDeleteThis person should be judge by the courts and be imprisoned for the crimes he has done. This person has children and the only way he can correct what is wrong is to admit that he is corrupt and be ready to pay for it. He has no place in a new Philippines and He needs to be put in a cage together with other corrupt people or maybe commit harakiri...
ReplyDeleteHang this person....and let him pay for the injustice he has done to the tax payers...
ReplyDeleteThis guy is already removed from service but his ill-gotten wealth was not removed away from him.
