My dear friend is confined at the Medical City. I am wont to mention his name here, respecting his privacy. I feel however, that what happened to him deserves a space in this blog.
Last Wednesday, my friend woke up with a high fever. He was also in extreme pain. His lovely wife decided to send him to the nearest hospital, which, in this case, is Medical City.
Doctors later diagnosed his condition as kidney stones. He has some and has to be removed.
But, you know what really pained my friend? It was that robbery that happened to him. He lost his phone and his iTouch.
This guy has full faith in the Pinoy. This guy even spoke before thousands, and his message heard by millions, inspiring millions that there is still hope. That Pinoys are inherently good. That Pinoys should not do evil against his fellow Pinoy.
What pains him now was the brutal reality that someone took his phone and his iTouch, his valuables, while he was confined in that hospital.
Let me be very clear---it was not the costs or prices of those things which were taken from him really led to his sadness. It was probably the realization that there are still some desperate Pinoys out there. And things are getting seriously worse. Imagine, a robbery inside a hospital, a place where you're supposed to be safe.
I am pained myself. Why would these people do this thing to my dear friend, a very close friend since my college days? He is a guy who inspired millions by his book and his campaign to re-imagine the Philippines.
This is a sign. Maybe God is telling him something, I don't know.
What I do know is this---Medical City should answer for this. Medical City should conduct an investigation. Medical City should even strengthen its security.
how did it happen?
ReplyDeletehe was wheeled into the emergency room. while he was lying in bed, he put his valuables near him. he was sedated without being informed of it.
ReplyDeletewhen he woke up, still in pain, his phone and itouch were gone.
Dear Mr. Mangubat,
ReplyDeleteThank you for informing us about your concern. A thorough investigation has been conducted and a formal complaint has already been filed. A hospital representative will be contacting the patient directly for the developments.
The Medical City
@ medical city,
ReplyDeletePlease do. I already spoke to him. He is still distraught. He can't believe what had happened.
Fortunate for you that this guy, who is very close to the President, forgave what happened. Otherwise, you know.
You should probably replace your security personnel with better ones.
And you know and I know that this is not an isolated case. There are several cases that happened in your hospital before. I suggest you beef up your security and probably indoctrinate some of your staff. We learned from highly reliable sources that your staff or some of them, were involved. Please rectify immediately. I have high regard for Medical City. It pains us that you experience these things.
