Lintang Bedol, the controversial COMELEC supervisor has teamed up with former Maguindanaoan governor Zaldy Ampatuan. DILG secretary Jesse Robredo says Virgilio Garcillano, the man behind the "voice" in the Hello Garci tapes may be just a few days away. Media describes Garcillano as the "missing link" and they may be right.
Garcillano knows how the operation went. He knows who benefitted from those billions of pesos spent for the election of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
People say it's all for nothing since even if probers establish electoral fraud, the beneficiary is already dead (FPJ). They're missing the point.
MOre than proving that there was fraud in the 2004 elections, the important thing is how to crucify the previous administration in using public funds during the elections. Obviously, these funds came from public coffers.
Arroyo etal may not be accused or charged with violation of the Election Code. She and her cohorts may however, be charged with plunder since the use of public funds for the elections is one form of laundering dirty money.
Ampatuan, Bedol and even Garcillano's song may not be useless afterall.
