Typhoon Helen, the Habagats and their victims

Close to a hundred people died when strong Habagat winds brought severe flooding in the Metropolis and nearby provinces. Now, Typhoon Helen has just reached land and four people already died.

Worst, more and more people living or staying in evacuation centers are getting sick. In Bulacan for example, four people got leptospirosis, probably due to wading in waist-deep flood waters.

Government blamed global warming. After two days, the MMDA admitted that the reason why waist-high floods inundated huge parts of the metropolis was the fact that those huge anti-flood water pumps failed to function during the calamity. Reason? The operator failed to  gas it up.

Wow. Talk about ineptitude, this one is for the books really. And MMDA just slapped suspension charges against that bungling idiot. Why suspend when they can easily fire him? Imagine, billions of pesos got lost and lives wasted all because this stupid idiot of a man failed to get his brain functioning at the very point of our collective despair.

Anyway, it is not just this man who left his brain at home--some members of the administration also failed in this regard. It could be willful or it could be fanciful. Whichever way, our calamity was made perfect due to the mis-governance of this administration.

  1. Government can blame global warning, but I think all of us are responsible what in our environment. If we always have a discipline to our self, those things will not happen in worst.
