Cebu's 7 Kings of Smuggling Helping Pro-GMA Politicians

I came across a very reliable intelligence report on the activities of this so-called "7 Kings of Smuggling" in that sunny island of Cebu.

Based on report and validated on the ground by several sources, these 7 Kings of Smuggling which is being led by a certain " R", are conniving with pro-GMA political forces in Cebu for one and one purpose alone---to maintain Cebu as a counter political force against the Aquino administration.

These groups are planning to frustrate the "Tuwid na Daan" policy of this administration. They want nothing more than see the pro-GMA political personalities maintain their current positions of power in Cebu and maintain its status as GMA's strongest hub in the Visayas.

And how will they do it? By saving enough money to frustrate the efforts of reformists in Cebu to change the political landscape in that island. Where will they get these tons of money? From smuggling activities or allegedly allowing smuggling of sugar and rice in Cebu.

In the past, GMA has used Cebu as a countervailing force against those who opposed her reign. Cebu continues to be GMA's strongest supporter. Cebu's politicians led by the Garcias, have been very consistent in delivering the votes to GMA. Fact is, Cebu was used in the 2004 elections as justification for GMA's victory over Fernando Poe Jr.

And do you know why even traders and businessmen want Cebu to maintain its pro-GMA stance? Because they want nothing more than an uninterrupted flow of contraband in the Port of Cebu. Cebu continues as a center of smuggled sugar and rice in the Visayas. And the 7 Kings of Smuggling lord it over there.

These smuggling lords remain in the side of the pro-Arroyo politicians because no one moves against them there. Their illicit activities continue right under the noses of the Bureau of Customs because certain Customs personnel are reportedly involved and being kept in their payrolls.

The 7 Kings of Smuggling fears that Bureau of Customs chief Ruffy Biazon will move against them. Biazon has maintained a "no compromise policy" against smugglers. Fact is, several BOC men in Cebu are honestly following the orders of Biazon in going after these smugglers. Lately, however, these honest Customs men were being subjected to unnecessary "pressure" from personnel believed to be under the payroll of the 7 Kings of Smuggling in Cebu.

Awash with cash, this group of smugglers want to picture these men as corrupt when in truth and in fact, those who initially allowed the illegal entry of several tons of sugar were allegedly those on the take.

Sometime in November, a big shipment composed of several tons of sugar were intercepted by honest Biazon's men. These tons of sugar came out of the Port without being subjected to x-ray examination. An investigation was conducted.

Those who want the contraband to stay within Custom's control were subjected to a probe, allegedly initiated by those who works for the smugglers. To make a long story short, Biazon is being fed wrongful information by smugglers to make it appear that honest men working for him, were those responsible for the illegal entry of these tons of sugar.

Admittedly, these illegal entry of several tons of sugar were effected, according to reports, as part of the fund-raising efforts of the 7 Kings of Smuggling to support the candidacies of several pro-GMA politicians in Cebu. The head of the smuggling ring admitted this when he shared this with a Customs official during their plane ride to Manila. The alleged smuggler went so far as booking a flight to Manila when he learned that this official was going to Manila and report the true state of affairs in the Port of Cebu.

Biazon must be extremely careful in handling Cebu. He should not be swayed by efforts of these corrupt men . He should validate what is being given to him. Fact is, why put honest men like a certain " Major" and his men under probe, when the shipment went unnoticed because the x-ray division allowed these shipments to go thru without subjecting the shipment to inspection?

Biazon should go after the true protectors of smuggling in Cebu and leave no stone unturned.

(Who are these members of the smuggling ring in Cebu? These 7 men are very close allegedly with the former dispensation. They all live in Cebu's version of Forbes and controls the financial kitty of several politicians there. They always meet at the country club every Sunday)
