I've been privy to a very confidential survey which shows that graft and corruption or the pork barrel scam is a big factor which voters would consider before considering a candidate for an elective post. It shows 85% of the electorate would not vote for someone involved in the pork barrel scam.
The pork barrel scam is one of the most serious issue to hit the headlines for centuries. This issue has all the elements of a melodrama, something which glued people to their TV screens for hours and spur people to talk about it for hours. The next big issue after this seems to be the Vhong Navarro mauling and Freddie Aguilar's marriage to a teenager.
This administration will be judged based on what it does with the enormous pieces of evidence the DOJ has in its possession. Of course, the DOJ has already filed the appropriate charges before the Ombudsman, yet, the Lady Ombudsman seems very busy touring the world for seminars and speaking opportunities rather than attend to these cases. What is most worrisome is when this issue transcends this year and spills over next year, which, for all intents and purposes, is an election year. Fact is, the middle of this year is the start of political intramurals among aspirants for the top Executive post come 2016.
In any case, personalities involved in this scam will find it extremely difficult to resuscitate their respective political careers come 2016.
What is the effect of this scam to the political configurations for 2016? Read on to the next blog entry.
