Francis Ang, son of Manila councilor Bernie Ang, was charged with large-scale and syndicated estafa July of last year. Citibank, a global bank, filed the criminal case after discovering that Francis Ang tampered 82 documents into making illegal transactions which amounted to 138 million. Ang reportedly diverted the funds to his personal accounts. see link.
Manila RTC judge Josefina Siscar of Branch 55 has issued a warrant of arrest against Ang. The DOJ has recommended no bail to Ang. Francis Bryan Ang is formerly Citibank's Assistant Vice President.
The question that everybody is asking is--whatever happened to this case? Was Ang arrested and thrown into those filthy Manila jails? Just asking because several people say Bernie Ang is very close to Manila mayor Joseph Estrada.
Several people within Estrada's inner circle says Bernie Ang is very close and very powerful that he intends to use his influence to avoid the authorities from reaching his son? Reports say Ang's son has left the country and is hiding somewhere. Others say, he is just in Manila.
Why is the NBI or the PNp not looking for Mr. Francis Bryan Ang? Are they afraid of his father, a councilor of Manila and reportedly very close to Manila mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada?
Imagine this---a bank executive involved in this huge amount--138 million pesos.
Bernie's son handles the Citibank's Binondo's Citigold Wealth Management Group. There are conflicting reports. Some says he diverted just 100 million pesos of his client's money to his account. Others say, the total amount hovers between 600 million to 1 billion pesos.
Most of those victimized by Ang were his own neighbors in Binondo and close friends of his father, who is a trader and supporter of Manila mayor Joseph Estrada.
Francis Ang, 36 years old, is the eldest son of Manila councilor Bernie Ang of the 3rd district of Manila. Francis graduated high school in 1992 from Xavier School, a premier school for Filipino-Chinese boys, in Greenhills, San Juan.
He went to UP Diliman in college and finished the degree BS Economics. He worked as a staff of former Manila Vice-Mayor Danny Lacuna and also in the private sector (in the Treasury Department of iBank, which was acquired by UnionBank).
In Citibank, his last position was Assistant Vice President for the Citigold Wealth Management unit, the high networth management group for clients with at least $100,000 account with Citibank.
He has since gone missing. Ang claims that he was framed up. Yet, he has not appeared.
Bernie Ang's son is reportedly addicted to a high flying lifestyle. see link
