Vice president Leni Robredo is still the constitutionally mandated person to replace Mr. Duterte the minute he leaves this world or suddenly thinks he is so tired, he wants out or the people suddenly wake up from their languor and act against him. Without a definitive ruling from the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, Robredo stays as Duterte's successor.
Nothing wrong except that several people think Robredo is the wrong person for the job. She does not fill the bill.
Many see Robredo the way they see Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. People think that she is more of an ally of the oligarchs rather than a person who bears the strong political will to really effect change in the system.
We'll name one example--her recent speech before young legislators of the region. Instead of her speaking before the people, Robredo spends so much time talking with members of her socio-economic class.
Robredo must begin speaking and consulting with the basic masses, the very same vein she was known before. She must re-discover her roots.
