What's Wrong With Us?

Take a hard look at Philippine Justice and tell me what's wrong.

A convicted rapist who happens to be American, freely walking the grounds of his embassy, defying the order of the Highest Tribunal of the land for him to spend his sentence inside a Philippine penal facility.

He ravished a Filipina and now enjoys the comforts of an air-conditioned room, waiting for his final acquittal by a Court peopled with men of the canine kind.

Take a hard look at Philippine Justice and tell me what's wrong.

An unrepentant child rapist, convicted of double life sentences, now a free man, after spending sixteen years in jail.

He walks free, proud of his accomplishments while in jail while the entire nation looks shocked.

Take a closer look at Philippine Justice and tell me what's wrong.

A son of a former Chief Justice now whereabouts unknown, freed after reportedly spending time in jail.
He remained defiant, even, unrepentant, for gunning down two teenagers who happened to be at the wrong place and at the wrong time.

Take an extreme and hard look at Philippine Justice and tell me what's wrong.
Ten convicted men, who took part in a conspiracy to kill a martyr, now, free after reportedly spending twenty years in jail. Defiant and unrepentant, they are accusing othe people in the crime when they, in fact, squeezed the trigger that killed that man wearing white. For them, nothing's wrong with killing the man. They're just following orders.
But, the most flagrant of it all...
Take a hard look at Lady Justice and if you can't find anything wrong with her, you have been part of the rising Conspiracy of Silence.

Justice for Maureen Hultman. Justice for All. End the Arroyo Regime Now!

or click here Justice for Maureen Hultman Petition

On October 17, 2008, the Hultman family will be commemorating the death anniversary of their daughter Maureen. In 1991, sixteen year old Maureen was brutally murdered by Claudio Teehankee Jr. Teehankee shot her in the head, while in the company of her friends. One of the victims survived and testified against Teehankee Jr. After 90 days, Maureen died due to the bullet wound she sustained in the head.

In 1995, Judge Joe Madayag sentenced Teehankee to life imprisonment. The son of the former Philippine Supreme Court Chief Justice received two life sentences and another one for frustrated homicide. Based on the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines, Teehankee should serve at least 40 years incarceration.

In 2008, the Hultmans and the rest of the Filipino People were shocked when Philippine president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo granted executive clemency to Teehankee. Speculations point to the reported closeness of Arroyo to the sister and brother of the convicted killer. Philippine Justice secretary Raul Gonzales was quick to defend the decision of Mrs. Arroyo, along with Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita. Both said that Teehankee has served his due and eligible for clemency.

A quick look at the laws says that a convict can only be eligible for pardon if he already served 30 years imprisonment and if the convict already reached the age of 70.

Teehankee has just served less than 20 years and he's only 62 years old. Therefore, the convicted killer is still not eligible for executive clemency.

It is clear that the decision of Arroyo has no basis in law and therefore, can be considered as a capricious abuse of her executive powers as president.

We, therefore, ask all Filipinos everywhere to support this Petition. The petition ask that:

1. Give Justice for the Hultman family through a review of the executive clemency granted by Arroyo to Teehankee.

2. Petition for the immediate arrest and re-detention of Teehankee so that he continues to serve the remainder of his sentence.

3. Justice for all victims of violence, heinous crimes and human rights violations in the Philippines.

4. Ask the International Community to help the Filipino People end the capricious rule of Mrs. Arroyo and her Mafia gang of gutless officials through a People's Revolt.

5. Regain Truth, Justice and Peace that have been trampled upon by Mrs. Arroyo and her Gang of Misfits.

Appeal to Jesus, says Raul Gonzales to those who oppose Teehankee release

Executive secretary Eduardo Ermita says, its an executive decision to grant clemency to convicted murderer Claudio Teehankee Jr. Besides, says Ermita, and seconded by chuwariwah (In)Justice secretary Raul Gonzales, the president went through the case file and did everything by the book. Teehankee has served well over 20 years, says sRaul(o), and all those who hate his release may very well appeal to Jesus Christ. And that includes the Haltmans.

A few days from now, the Haltman's will be commemorating the death anniversary of their daughter Maureen. What will her parents tell her? That her gunman is now a free man, freed by the greed and haughtiness of a regime?

Many people say, Gloria released Claudio due to her classmate, Pricilla. Pricilla reportedly appealed to Gloria to release her brother immediately because he's reportedly "losing it" inside Bilibid. What she reportedly meant is his brother is allegedly "losing his marbles" and besides, says the Teehankees, he has suffered enough already and no one is protesting his inclusion to the list of those to be given paroles or executive clemency anyway when they published the ad in 2004?

Well, we all empathize with both the Teehankees and the Huffmans but this is beside the point. This is a matter of law. If it's lawful for Claudio to be released, so be it. If he has served his sentence, and if he's eligible for executive clemency, then, he has every right to get it.

In this case, Claudio is not eligible for executive clemency due to two reasons: one, he is serving a double sentence for life and to be eligible you need to serve the majority of your sentence and two, he has not yet reached the mandatory age of 70 years old to qualify. Besides, Teehankee is still answerable to the crime of attempted homicide, which imposes a separate penalty of imprisonment.

Forget about the VACC, forget about public outrage. The fact is--Teehankee Jr. must not be released as yet, because he has not served the years he's supposed to serve. He was incarcerated for only about nine years, and the computation of Raul Gonzales is wrong.

Now, what do we do about Teehankee now, a freed (not free?)man?

Anybody can arrest him and turn him over to the authorities. We can overturn this executive decision. Let the People decide on this case and the People's Tribunal should decide the fate of Teehankee.
