Scion who bring honor and those who bring shame

National treasure, that's what Gary Lising described Francis Magalona. Coming from a national gem, that's more than praise--it's a veritable tribute to a man whom everybody knew as the Voice of this Ascendant Generation.

Francis Durango Magalona gave us music that tugs our heart strings. I was fortunate to know him when he was still Francis of Bagets. At that time, he was like the others. Yet, at that early age, I sensed something different in him.

Now, he's gone. I wrote something about him over at http://pinoyobserver.wordpress.com.

His father, Pancho Magalona must have been very proud of his son. And he should have. Francis was a scion of a showbiz clan. He brought honor to his family.

But, we can't say that to one of the scions of the Lopez clan, Alberto, son of former Iloilo Congressman Albertito and former governor Emily Relucio-Lopez.

Alberto II was charged with grave threats for allegedly threatening to kill Francis Allan Angelo, Executive editor of the Daily Guardian. Alberto II reportedly made that threat when they were inside a bar last 31 October 2008.

Alberto II even reportedly asked his bodyguards to bodily harm Angelo.

What a shame, this Alberto II.

We know you're an haciendero. But, whatever riches you have right now, you got it because you're just lucky to be born a Lopez.

And the only thing asked of you is, at least, give honor to your surname.

Shame that you're like your cousin, Celine.
