Alice Dixson and Heart Evangelista heat the cool Xmas season

I got to hand it to the guys over at FHM and Tanduary. They scored a coup in this one. Two gorgeous ladies--one, a hit with my generation (nineties, err, eighties :-) and another one, today's yummiest.

FHM convinced Alice Dixson to grace their covers and the forty three year-old phenom still has it. Dixson is still one of this country's alluring faces. As they say, mukha pa lang, ulam na. (Opps! For young ones out there, better to read this with your parents beside you, okey?)

Heart Evangelista did not bare much in this month's latest Tanduay calendar. But, like Dixson, Heart is world-class. Just a glance, and it feels like heaven.

I remember when I was still working in Singapore, my Singaporean staff asked me the name of the photo I had in my laptop. I told them, the name was Heart. They adore her there. Heart Evangelista is, I think, one of our most exportable talents out there. Given the right breaks, Heart could be our version of Zhang Ziyi or Lucy Liu.

This is one reason why I want to visit the beaches soon.

It is a heartbreaker though that acting is the least of Heart's priorities right now. As you know, she's madly in love with You-Know-Who. Fortunately, Heart is not thinking of marrying the guy soon. So, that gives us time to convince her to try her luck in Hollywood.

Anyway, these gorgeous ladies are reasons why it is More Fun in the Philippines.

We have a lovely country.

We are such a fun-loving and easy-going nation.

Really, our problem is not us. If we only have a government that are peopled with Filipinos whose desire is to serve rather than steal from us or rob us of our precious hard-earned taxes, then, this country would be, I think, the no. 1 place to stay. As things are right now, we just have to hope.

Chiz Escudero-Heart Evangelista relationship: When a highly publicized stunt goes awry and backfires

For many election observers, having a celebrity as a love interest is a major plus factor in the awareness part of the political game. Such a kind of relationship affords the candidate free publicity and increased talk value, something which is very much desired by any candidate.

When things however, goes South rather than North, such a relationship is a career-ender. This is what Senator Chiz Escudero is experiencing right now when parents of Heart Evangelista went public and publicly chastised the Senator, even revealed unsavory things about him personally.

Chiz Escudero's public image is, according to his friends, unsullied. Yet, I have heard many unsavory things about this political personality since his days as the spokesperson of Fernando Poe Jr. He is a sweet talker, no doubt about it. Behind the veneer of political sophistication lies a "damaged personal life", according to close associates and right now, even the parents of Heart Evangelista.

What the Ongpauco couple told ABS-CBN 2 are things which, to the minds of many, reveal the true persona behind this "Chiz" character which, to some, is just a media creation.

The Ongpaucos want Chiz to leave Heart Evangelista alone. I have felt for the Ongpaucos since I, myself, am a parent of three girls, and one of my girls is entering the puberty stage in the next few years.

Any parent would want nothing more than a good person for his daughter or son. And the Ongpaucos feel the same.

The Ongpaucos accused Chiz of being "bastos", of "disrespectful towards elders" and of being an "alcoholic".The Family of Heart Evangelista belongs to the "old rich" and obviously, they want someone who at least, exemplifies the Victorian model they have in their minds.

I don't know how Chiz would actually defend himself against this latest tirade of the Ongpaucos against him. This is a publicity disaster, a major image crisis, which is very hard to extricate oneself.

Chiz has to repair the damage the Ongpaucos wrought against his persona. Personally, I don't see nothing wrong with drinking once in a while; but being accused of being an "alcoholic", is something different. That smells trouble.

Heart Evangelista's True Love

Heart Evangelista finally admitted that Jericho Rosales remains her "true love". Her three year relationship with Rosales was the highpoint of her lovelife and according to her, remains the best time of her life.


I understood what she meant, for I too, had a true love whom I still consider the best one from all the women that I became involved with. Those days I spent with her remain in my memory and heart, of course.


It took me about three years before I recovered from the hurt. I remember those days when I spent it all thinking about the things I did and the things I did'nt do to save the relationship.  It was a struggle. 


Every single one of us, mortals of this earth, had that moment when we thought that we found what we believe was our soul mate. We gave our all, yet, in the end, it wasn't meant to be. 


Heart Evangelista said that she was prepared to do everything, even live in a shack with Rosales as a testament of her undying love for him. I understand. Even I, back in those days, sacrificed a lot for my true love.


I can empathize with her because every single one of us had this experience, and hopefully, lived through it and recovered. Recovery is one of the most painful things. And I think that both Rosales and Heart Evangelista are still on the recovery stage.


The thing about these things is, when you see your true love again, you'll probably ask him or her, the whys that stuck in your mind for the longest time. And the questions will remain unanswered. 


Now, I am not in the arms of a true love, but I am happy. I am happy because I finally found someone who understands me and will always be with me, come hell and high water. She probably pale in comparison with the former, but she has different traits which endears her to me and to which, I found rather amusing and lovely.


Yes, my true love probably enjoys her own life right now. Yet, what is important really, is when someone finds happiness. And after a long, long time, decades really, I can finally say that, indeed, I finally found happiness.
