These are possible post-Aquino scenarios being floated about by certain groups:
1. President Aquino succumbs to pressure and decides to unilaterally suspend peace talks and the BBL. He assumes or admits responsibility and subjects himself to a truth commission. This commission will investigate and provide their results months from now by which, it will all be election period. Aquino survives 2015 but largely and politically marginalised.
2. Aquino admits responsibility and tenders his resignation. Upon operation of law, Vice president Jejomar Binay assumes power. Groups inside Malacanan do their own manoeverings to preserve their powers or at least sustain their power bases. Binay's group influences election and VP wins election in 2016. Continuity is assured, with Binay in power for 7.5 years, similar to what happened to Arroyo.
3. People power breaks out and Aquino is pressured to resign. A transition council led by his uncle, Peping Cojuangco assumes power. Power transitions from a Cojuangco to another Cojuangco. Differing groups opposed to Peping moves to re-install power thru another transition council, mostly led by pro-"Tuwid na daan" groups or groups once closely aligned with Aquino. Aquino retires, council manages affairs of the state to prepare for 2016 elections.
4. People power breaks out and Aquino succumbs to public pressure and decides to suspend peace talks and assume responsibility over Mamasapano massacre. Truth commission established and Aquino submits. Preparations for 2016 elections are thus left to a transition council composed of different groups close to the Aquinos. Aquino is made to retire. 2016 elections elect new president.
5. People power breaks out and Aquino hardens his stand. Military component comes out to announce withdrawal of support. Aquino further hardens his stand and declares state of emergency. Situation worsens. Aquino declares martial rule and arrests perpetuators. Effect is Aquino clique retains power and does what they want to do, even dictate the pace of the 2016 elections. Aquino anointed LP candidate wins election on dictated terms. People militate against electoral fraud and armed component once more comes out. Clashes ensue.
These scenarios are likely to happen over the next week or at least two weeks. The window of opportunity is only two weeks. If nothing happens within these next two weeks, this issue will dissipate and will only become an electoral issue. When March or April comes, it will be all about the 2016 elections, as groups prepare for it. There will be no more time for popular yet unconstitutional actions because the people will no longer entertain such ideas. The only possible outbreak of such is May 2016 if and when the election turns violent and fraudulent. This is one option which will make us politically damaged under a state of perpetual destabilisation.

Coup d'état, structural changes and other B-S
Based on reports, two contending groups are in a collision course--all in the name of Power.
There is one claiming to be poised to strike for the sake of true change. Another is also poised to justify a continuity of the reforms already established by the current administration.
Former defense secretary Norberto Gonzales' claim about these so-called "coup" is very interesting. He says he is for "change" in the country. He wants nothing more than change the very structure of leadership of this nation. His line is being parroted by Peping Cojuangco, who claims to have a big role in the ouster of former president Joseph Estrada in 2001.
These two names---Gonzales and Cojuangco have been involved in two political exercises already along with Boy Saycon, who is rumoured to be doing the rounds and convincing some sectors.
Nothing wrong with the "aim" of these people--the only question that comes to mind is--how true and serious their desire to change is. For one, Gonzales served the Arroyo administration for nine long years. During those time, what change or changes happened? Nothing. Gonzales just served the interests of his principal. How about Peping? He was given the responsibility of "reforming" national sports but what happened? Nothing, and the condition of our sports organisations remain dismal.
How about Boy Saycon? In the early part of the Aquino administration, Saycon was severely reprimanded by the president for dipping his fingers on sugar smuggling. What the president did was ask several Customs officials to fire Saycon's men out of the bureau.
Are we so secured to know that if these men succeed in re-asserting themselves to power, they will pursue the people's interests and not their own?
Ask me if the people being convinced by these three personalities are convinced and do not know what these men did when they were in governance and you'll find that the very reason why their attempts would fail and fail miserably is the very fact that their records as government officials pale in comparison with those who truly worked for changes, even inside the Aquino administration.
Besides, what would happen is what I call "perpetual destabilisation"---where contending political groups would try to outsmart each other knowing that there is now a serious absence of leadership.
The question really is very simple--do we allow Aquino to continue the remaining one year and a half in power or do we allow a transition council to manage our affairs, especially correct the electoral process so that we get a fair election come 2016?
Honestly, a transition council is our best bet to correct the monumental flaws of this decrepit system. This is the most rational solution to the absence of leadership which we now experience.
However, what prevents us from supporting this initiative is the knowledge that these names are involved in this enterprise. We know that these people are advancing their own personal interests and like those whom they are criticising right now, they are equally guilty of amassing wealth from the public coffers, and worse, advance the interests of names in Big Business who wants to monopolize their hold in the economy.
Political exercises which involve some form of military action are always motivated by economic interests.

Peping Cojuangco blasts Hyatt 10
AS ALWAYS, it seems like President Noynoy Aquino faces tough times ahead. Not only will he try to help his sister, Kris Aquino from again, another marriage "on the rocks", he will have to contend with his uncle, Peping Cojuangco, who is now on a media blitz against his administration.
Peping, a staunch supporter of Noynoy, and brother of Cory, has just granted an interview over TV Patrol. In the interview, Peping lamented how his nephew has acted over the past few weeks. Obviously, his group, the nefarious COPA (Council on Peping Affairs, este Philippine Affairs), is being isolated and being effectively barred from participating or taking a direct part in the Aquino administration.
He feels that Noynoy is now at the mercy of certain forces once aligned with the Arroyo administration. Peping did not directly name this group circling around Noynoy, but obviously he's referring to the Hyatt 10, former close associates and Cabinet members of Mrs. Arroyo and is aligned with the Mar Roxas group.
There's a catch though.
I thought that Peping was just blasting people away out of genuine concern for his nephew. I was terribly wrong.
At the tail end of the interview, Peping was attacking people because he wants his own people to run the show for Noynoy. And you know what that means.
Everyone knows what Peping did during the 1st Aquino administration--he used the good name of Cory for his so-called "shady deals." Many people knew how Peping exploited his filial relations to the hilt. Fact is, it was Peping who actually gave some people cause to militate against Cory. He was, as we already know, the first one who was out of power but present in every deal entered into by government, or so alleged by some quarters. He was also instrumental in that slanderous tag of "Kamaganak Incorporated."
For all these, what is so astounding about Peping's group anyway? My sources tell me that Peping Cojuangco runs the POC like a veritable fiefdom. Ask around, specifically if the POC is not, in any way, involved in shady advertising deals with companies? Ask around if POC is not involved in anyway with deals with tour operators, travel and events agencies, and you'll know why Noynoy shuns his uncle.
Every one knows what "Pastor" Boy Sayco is doing. During the Arroyo administration, he was instrumental in that deal with San Miguel Corporation and a Qatari telecommunications company. Don't tell me that Saycon did not use his government connections in that multi-billion peso deal? And don't tell me that he's not benefitting in any way in any government transaction? The pseudo Pastor has benefitted a lot during Arroyo's time and he, and Peping expects to get something too from this new administration?
As the saying goes, man has to learn how to curb his voracious appetite, otherwise, he might turn into a Nero.
