Robin Padilla-Mariel Rodriguez marriage is a sham

I just saw Robin Padilla's interview with Tina Monsod-Palma on the World Tonight. And I must say that he's definitely in love.

However, I hate to be a prude but Robin's claim that he is already married to Mariel Rodriguez last August 19 is actually a sham. There was no marriage that happened in India. There was a Muslim ceremony initiated between two love birds, but sadly, there was no marriage that occurred. Let me explain.

Under The Family Code, for two people to be legally married, there must be a marriage license granted by the government. A marriage license is an important requisite for a valid marriage.

Robin admitted that what happened was a "whirlwind" marriage. There was no intention on the part of Robin nor Mariel to get married at the time when Robin was in India. There was no mention of a marriage license procured by the couple prior to their marriage. Hence, their marriage is not legal from the beginning or what we term as "void ab initio"

Another important component lacking during the August 19 marriage between Padilla and Rodriguez is the Filipino ambassador. For a marriage conducted overseas to be valid, there must be an officiating officer present, preferably, the ambassador or even a consul-general. The ambassador is the state representative, authorized to solemnize a marriage.

A Muslim Imam, unfortunately, especially if he's a foreigner, does not bear a legal right to conduct or solemnize marriages. Hence, the ceremony is not recognized under our laws, therefore, no marriage took place.

So, there are two (2) things which are considered major requisites lacking in that August 19, 2010 marriage---a marriage license and the lack of authority by the solemnizing officer to conduct the marriage.

Now, then, is the Ibaloi ceremony, a valid marriage? No. Again, there was no marriage license present when the two lovebirds got hitched. The Ibaloi priest probably has authority to solemnize marriages but he cannot do it without seeing the marriage license.

How about the pastor-led ceremony which took place after the Ibaloi ceremony, what it valid? No, because there was, again, let me reiterate no marriage license secured prior to the ceremony.

So, there. Don't be fooled. Robin Padilla, probably because of his excitement to get over his recent separation with his former wife and his willingness to marry another, should be forgiven for this. However, I hate to say it, but the two must follow the law and re-marry.

For their union to be legally firm, Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez must secure a marriage license first before they even engage themselves into any marriage ceremony.

Lastly, let me then say that for the benefit of Mariel, she should really check if Padilla's marriage with Liezel Sicangco has been annulled already. If the marriage is not annulled, then, what they did last August 19 was harmless since it was not valid in the first place.

However, if they do intend to get married very soon, Padilla must first resolve his earlier marriage with Sicangco. I know Padilla separated from Sicangco using the Muslim's right to divorce his wife, but Padilla must still secure a court order stating that his previous marriage has been declared by competent authority to be legally annulled.

Robin Padilla---a Muslim no longer?

Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez just got married. Yet, they did not marry in a Muslim ceremony. They got married through an Ibaloi ceremony.

Robin explains that they got married in an Ibaloi ceremony because his mother is an Igorot. The ceremony lasted for one and half hours, afterwards, they also got married before a pastor. It is unknown why they did so twice.

I thought Robin is a Balik-Islam, a Muslim revert? Robin is an active member of the local Balik-Islam movement. He is  known as Abdullah.

They should have gotten married in a Muslim ceremony.

Does this mean that Robin is not a Muslim anymore? The Ibaloi ceremony involves using blood smearing of a pig, two things considered haram by Muslims. Fact is, the entire ceremony is considered haram.

For the sake of our fellow Muslims, Robin Padilla should explain if he already abandoned the Muslim faith.

ABS-CBN 2 should extend Robin Padilla's stay at Wowowee!

Ted Failon's interview today with action star and idol Robin Padilla is hilarious (programang Failon at Sanchez over at DZMM). Padilla, who replaced Willie Revillame as host of ABS-CBN's no. 1 noontime show, is really the most appropriate replacement for the former bastos host.

Padilla is the anti-thesis to Revillame.

One, he's courteous to his female co-hosts, unlike Revillame who always fight and debases them, which is not surprising since Revillame is like that in real life. Remember his numerous domestic abuse cases and his string of divorces.

Padilla is eye-candy in television, unlike Revillame who needs to pay people up just for them to say that he's handsome.

Three, Padilla is taal managalog, meaning, he's a natural Tagalog speaker. That's good for young kids and parents out there.

Padilla's good manners will definitely rub off to Wowowee's numerous televiewers. Padilla's presence will redefine the noontime television landscape because his presence disabuse the minds of the public about comedians lording it over noontime shows.

Padilla is entertaining in his own way, unlike Revillame whose jokes are either over the top or plain and straight bastos. Padilla is also very charming, and very natural, unlike Willie who is obnoxious and very crass.

I appeal to ABS-CBN 2 management---retain Padilla and junk Revillame. If you choose to retain Revillame, you'll just prove 5 things:

One, you tolerate bad behavior.
Two, you tolerate high-strung, mayayabang and very obnoxious individuals.
Three, you tolerate wife beaters and discourteous people.
Fourth, you want to swallow your own vomit.
Fifth, you encourage disrespectful employees. How many times did Revillame disrespect management? I can't count with my own fingers.

Robin Padilla wows the Wowowee crowd; Kudos to ABS-CBN!

I'm not a big fan of Wowowee and you know why? Despite being the no. 1 Noontime show on television today (TNS survey says Wowowee has 19% audience share---6 points ahead of Eat Bulaga, the show which lorded it over the surveys since the 80's), I don't watch it because of its obnoxious host, Willie Revillame. My wife, daughter and young kid watches it because of three (3) reasons: one, simple execution of the segments, two, scantily-clad beautiful women and three, beautiful women, period.

They hate Willie Revillame when he disrespects women, disrespects gays and disrespects those with physical disabilities. How many times did Revillame utters such low regard against these people, not to mention, showing his crassness against his colleagues at ABS-CBN?

Nacionalista party standard bearer Manny Villar was wrong when he hired the services of Mr. Revillame as one of his endorsers. Revillame was loved by the people only because he gives them money during the show, period. Look at their faces. Most of the contestants just say what Willie Revillame wants them to, because they want money. Money, money, money. That's all there is to it, when Willie hosts the show. And really, if money is just the basis for watching the show, then, what's the use of having beautiful and highly talented show hosts like Pokwang or that Rodriguez lady.

Robin Padilla is not your regular host and that's just IT. ABS-CBN just did something extraordinary--they hired Padilla actually as a counter-force against Willie. Padilla is the opposite of the obnoxious and overbearing former host.

One, Padilla respects women so much, he's a ladies' man--in a positive way. Revillame is known throughout as a woman beater, a crass man, with a string of divorces tugged in his belt. He still has cases against him in court, the latest, that "beating" incident he did with his former wife.

Two, Padilla is a very humble man. Robin is inherently humble unlike Revillame who pretends to be humble and respectful of old folks.

And three, ABS-CBN did a wonderful job choosing Robin because he's so unlike the other hosts. Tradition says hire a comedian to handle noontime shows. Wrong. Hire somebody whom everybody likes and registers well on television. Revillame does not register well on TV. Fact is, Revillame accosts his guests to say that he's handsome when he's definitely not.

Robin Padilla as host is as good as ice cream. ABS-CBN is trying to disabuse the minds of its audience. Padilla's appearance is refreshing. It's not bastos, as what Revillame is.

IN due time, Padilla will woo audiences to his side, as naturally as they like and love him. Better to be loved because of who you are than loved because you just give them money, like what Revillame always do.

One advice to ABS-CBN---do not fear. Don't succumb to some "unfounded" fears that you'll lose the masa crowd with the absence of Willie Revillame. Let him move to TV5. Sooner or later, Padilla will bring in the crowds.
