After a week of claiming that Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's health condition is worsening, here comes the doctors of the former president telling us the truth---that Mrs. Arroyo's condition has been improving and not in a way life threatening. So, it proves that that melo-dramatic incident at NAIA was staged-managed and for what? For the Arroyo couple to avoid prosecution. 

Or, as tongue waggers say, to agitate the people and shore up public anger against the administration. We know now that they failed. No one sympathized with her and her plight. That's how angry the Filipino People are against Mrs. Arroyo.

Truth, as they say, has a unique means of unveiling itself.

Sadly, even at a point of death, Mrs. Arroyo and her family continue to lie and lie before the public. 

Matanda ka na, Ginang Arroyo, tama na ang pagsisinungaling.

With that certification from her doctors, Mrs. Arroyo is also fit to go to a detention facility to serve time while her case of electoral rigging is being heard by the courts.

Of course, it is to the discretion of the courts where it would put Mrs. Arroyo. Her lawyers are calling for house arrest while the prosecution panel wants her straight in jail.

If we are to follow the law, then, there should be no debate--Gloria should serve time in a prison facility instead of her house.

It is time for us, for everybody, to implement what the law says.

The Arroyo camp is really a confused lot.

Tuesday last week was when we saw a Gloria Arroyo, being wheeled out of an ambulance. She is expected to board a plane to Singapore.

Her potatips, Maria Elena Horn, Raul Lambino and Atty. Ferdinand "the balls" Topacio were quick on saying that the former president is ready to go. She is physically fit to endure a three-hour plane ride to Singapore.

And they're absolutely right. We saw a frail looking woman, but able to take a flight of stairs by walking (assisted of course) and able to wave and even remembered to wear high-heeled shoes for the trip. Nothing life threatening there.

For a life threatener before, Gloria is not in a life threatening situation now. Yes, she suffers from hypertension, but, that's normal for a person like her facing a string of criminal cases. She's depressed and of course, that too, is normal. A person who will not be depressed at the sudden turn of events is likely a mental patient.

If Gloria can really stand up, why not require her to stay in a detention cell, according to the precepts of the law. I believe Topacio would be quick to say, " please accord her the respect befitting a former president". But, that's exactly it.

There are disputes as to whether she really was a former president of this country given that she is now being accused of rigging elections in 2004 and 2007.

If the evidence is strong against her, then, her very own legitimacy as a head of state is also being put under a cloud of doubt.

Her husband will counter, "accord respect since she is a woman".

Yeah. How many thousands of Filipinas accused of crimes suffered humiliation and hypertension when their times were up? When they were being hauled to prison, how many of them felt humiliation?

Gloria Arroyo has still time to correct these wrongs. Be an example. You were once a head of State. She should set an example and respect the very institutions of democracy and justice in this country.

Gloria Arroyo, like all others, should follow the law. If the law says that Gloria Arroyo should spend time in jail, she must.

Gloria Arroyo should spend time in jail

The Arroyo camp is one confused lot. At the height of the melodrama in NAIA, Raul Lambino, Elena Horn and Atty. Ferdinand " the balls" Topacio all were saying that Gloria's fight is the fight of ordinary Filipinos. They all sang in chorus. They tried to depict GMA as a victim of human rights violations. They say that she, along with hundreds, err, millions of Pinoys suffer human rights violations under a "despotic regime."

"This is worst than martial law, " says Mike Arroyo, erstwhile hubby of the ex-president.

Now that the former president is technically a prisoner of the state, the trio now wants the State to accord "every respect given to a former head of state", by allowing her to stay in a hospital and not spend any second inside a penitentiary.

If I got my Rules of Court right, the State takes cognizance of the accused immediately after the issuance of a warrant of arrest.

I thought GMA and her minions are fighting for the rights of every individual, why are they not willing to subject themselves to the standard operating procedures for every criminal?

The SOP is, subject yourself to mugshots and allow police to take your fingerprints. Next is, allow the State to issue you regulation suits and haul you to jail. That is what ordinary Filipinos accused of numerous crimes suffer, every single time.

GMA should realize that, out of sympathy and respect to the very institution she once served, she should realize that she must do what other Filipinos accused of crimes are constrained to do---go and spend time in jail.

If she believes that she's innocent, she should subject herself to the "ignominy" to show the world how the State continually oppresses her.

Her conduct is sickening, to say the least. Gloria Arroyo should respect what the law requires of her---spend time in jail.

Her conduct, as well as the demeanor of her minions, can be likened to the demeanor of guilty mafia bosses who uses their money just to buy themselves out of jail.

Innocent people are very willing to spend time in jail just to prove to their captors or persecutors that they are wrong and they have nothing to hide.

In Gloria's case, these people are moving heaven and earth just to avoid prison time, a tendency of guilty people whose consciences are already corrupted.

Gloria Arroyo camp challenges The Executive

Maria Elena Horn, spokesperson of ex-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo says they booked two flights to Singapore for today. This is in anticipation to the scheduled oral hearing set today by the Supreme Court. Note that this hearing is in relation to the submitted motion of the Arroyo camp questioning the validity of the watch list order of the Department of Justice. This is still not about the appeal of the DOJ and the Solicitor General on the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) issued by the Supreme Court last Tuesday.

Even without a final decision from the SC, the Arroyo camp wants nothing more than leave the country---again in haste. The Executive Department thru the DOJ has, time and again, admonished the Arroyo camp on leaving, but it seems that the Arroyo camp wants to further heighten tensions and directly challenge the Executive.

Why is the Arroyo camp so determined to leave as if there is something of a schedule or deadline they need to accomplish abroad? Not that the former president is dying which, according to her doctors, she is not. She is feeling better by the day, her blood pressure of course fluctuates because of her own doing. Gloria Arroyo and her minions want to push the envelope and further create a wedge between the elite ranks and for what?

If Arroyo thinks that a segment of the military will move against the established order, think again. No one is so foolish to sacrifice one's career for a pseudo-leader and presumptive dictator. No one will move against this government because for one, the people are solidly behind NOynoy and two, the elites are unified and are satisfied with him. An extra-constitutional move on the part of the Arroyos will surely fail.

Gloria Arroyo flight scene at NAIA part of destabilization plot? Former General seen visiting Arroyo

Seems like the true reason behind that melodrama at NAIA is beginning to unravel. Former defense chief and close Arroyo associate, General Hermogenes Esperon Jr. and several other generals close to Arroyo were seen visiting the former president at St Luke's Medical Center. I thought Arroyo suffered from high blood pressure and is at this time, edgy, according to her own spokesperson Elena Bautista-Horn?

What was the purpose of the visit of these generals, now retired? Is it possible that what Gloria and her group did at NAIA was part of a BIGGER PLAN, that is, to DESTABILIZE THE PRESENT AQUINO ADMINISTRATION?

Curiously, this incident happened during the visit of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. It's very surprising that this thing happened in just one day---the grant of an TRO inspite of the lack of oral arguments preceding to the grant and the immediate attempt by the Arroyo camp to leave this country in extreme haste. The SC, it seemed was in an unusual haste when it issued the TRO, as if, this TRO is being timed for a bigger reason.

If you notice the statements given by the Arroyo camp, there was a usual pattern, that is, the Arroyos tried to rouse public anger against the administration by linking Arroyo's condition with that of the ordinary Filipino.

The Arroyos tried to garner public support but, it backfired. Based on a TV Patrol survey of 10,000 Filipinos, nearly 8 out of 10 Filipinos supported the decision of the Department of Justice not to allow the Arroyos to leave this country.

Meaning,their melodrama was seen as a ruse, another prevarication or lie given by Arroyo. Arroyo had been seen as a villain in this case, instead of someone whose rights are being violated by the government.

Look at what the Arroyos tried to accomplish:

1. They tried to divide the govermment by creating a pseudo constitutional crisis. Many of Arroyo's allies wanted to create a situation, which is a constitutional crisis, in order to further fuel a political crisis.

This constitutional crisis is just in the minds of those who want to destabilize this administration.

2. They tried to muster public support behind their so called "advocacy" but it fell flat and in fact, exploded before their very faces.

3. They tried to hide their true intention by using the legal argument. Many people do not believe that they are fighting for Right--what the people see is a selfish motive by people behind Arroyo to again, fool the Filipino People into believing that they are being oppressed themselves, when, in truth and in fact, it is only the Arroyos who are getting the brunt end of the bargain.

4. The presence of former generals visiting Arroyo at St Luke's Medical Center.

This talk of destabilization has been going on since what? last year?

I think that it is time for these groups to just do what they want to do, and get it on. Let's see if they have the strength and the moral standi, so to speak, to launch whatever they want to launch.

It is certain, and it is quite obvious, that they will surely fail because the support of the masses is not with them.

Fact is, the masses are laughing at them.
