APEC IN PERU--A NEW WORLD ORDER?

Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte initially hesitated on that 24 hour trip to Peru. But, after reading what Russian president Putin did, which was, get Russia out of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Duterte had a change of mind. And many people expected it.

In his China trip, Duterte was the first one to announce to the entire world, a triumvirate of sorts, which includes the Philippines, China and Russia. Some say, Duterte's pronouncement was the 21st century version of the Axis Powers, which former German dictator Adolf Hitler led alongside Imperial Japan and Benito Mussolini's Italy. Now, what is being promoted is what I call the Asian Axis of Powers, an animal which packs an apocalyptic power deadlier than that of the EWurpean-inspired Axis powers. And like other deranged leaders who salivate on conquering the peoples of the world, Duterte thinks he is now at par with the rest of those whose hands dripped of the blood of their own peoples.

Seventy years ago, it was the ideology of intolerance that encouraged Germany to partner up with Italy and Japan. These three wanted nothing more than annihilate the rest of the world, and people it with their kind. Of course, the Germans wanted nothing more than see only blond people walking the face of the earth, and none of the kinks and had they succeeded, Hitler's Germany would have waged war against the other Axis powers, and the world would have seen only the Great Aryan Race walking and enjoying all the blessings of God, while the rest of us are probably working the mines or worse, being experimented upon inside thousands of German death camps. Or, we are likely be a few feet buried under the ground.

Right now, it is Putin, the Great Vlad, that wears Hitler's cape while China probably mimicked the Fascism of Mussolini, albeit, of the extreme Socialist kind, while, what about Duterte? Of course, Duterte thinks he has the credentials worthy of Li's and Putin's consideration---he, admittedly, inspired his own police force to turn into an efficient killing machine and look at how he and his cops already did----Filipino cops have already killed 4,000 plus of their own people and if we are to believe Duterte, there are still 2,600,000 more out there to find and murder.

Duterte wears his badge like a proud Meister. He thinks he's right and is doing the right sacrifice for his people. Like Putin, Duterte thinks killing people is the righteous way to go about his overzealous campaign against drug addiction.

A few days from now, and we will all wake up and find that there is a so-called "New World Order." This "new world order" is expected to include us, the Filipinos, all because of Duterte.

Yes, while we led the rest of the world after World War two in creating the United Nations so that all nations of the world would avoid killing each other over racism and intolerance, we are forgetting all of that, and is veering towards a "world order" that is far from being tolerant of other races and beliefs.

Of course, Duterte will say that this concept is "new" and I agree.

For the past few years, the world has transformed into a more livable place, a world that understands tolerance and cognizant of rights, of a world that lives "by the law", and a world that now sees everybody as genetically linked, thanks to advances in genome study.

Now, leaders like Duterte wants the world to turn its head upside down and reject the notion of a free world. Duterte wants nothing more than kill 3 million plus of his people to save 100 million more. And Duterte wants to see his people with their heads bowed in submission, before him, He Who Claims to be Smarter than Any other scumbag in the world.

What is "new" in this "new world order" is its cast---a bunch of Hitler wannabes whose claim to fame is that they ordered the slaughter of their own people, the very same ones whom they promised to "protect and safeguard their rights."

How do China treat dissidents or those Hongkongers who longed for freedom? They kill them by mowing them with their tanks. How did Putin deal with those who question his leadership? He had them all killed. And how, mind you, did Duterte inspired his security forces under his disposal? Duterte inspired them to go out like hunting dogs, hunt for people who use and sell drugs or even those whom these cops only suspect of being involved in drugs or plain and simply, they just hate or see people who look like addicts.

Obviously, there is nothing new about this new world order except that it a step backward, a step towards darkness, a rage against intellectualism and humanism and a noisy promotion of sectarianism, hatred and intolerance.

Yes, my son, we are going into war, a war that will put humanity back several thousands of years ago, when we kill because we hate how a person looks like, or we see zombies out of hapless drug dependents and spare those who supply these dependents with their drugs.

Yes, we are entering an era where we want just one idea to rule the world, just one look for people and just one style for people to wear. Let's throw out diversity and embrace unitarianism. Let's create our own version of order out of a perceived disorder and let's harmonize the economies of the world into one so that just one group of people continue their own domination, while we allow billions to just live like slaves working for the new order.

New world order? I dare these scumbags to just do their thing and enslave the world. And let them meet the same fate of their predecessors who once believed they were the dominant race when simply, they were the most foolish.

China preparing to seize Philippines' Pagasa island

China is threatening us, Filipinos, of war? Are they not informed that this is an era of small wars? That wars are won partially on the theater of war and of international opinion?

Reports say that China intends to occupy Pagasa island, one of the few big islands comprising the Spratlys island chain and is traditionally symbolic of Philippine sovereignty and hegemony over its territories.

An attack against Pagasa is a veritable declaration of war, something which China will eventually regret.

This is not something like what Great Britain did with the Argentinians in that Faulklands island dispute where both countries engaged in a brief naval and air battle before Argentianians finally succumbed.

No.

China is flexing its military muscle because it thinks that it is basically stronger than the Philippines because of its economic might. Lest China forgets, its economy runs because of the monies infused into it by some of the biggest companies in the world.

The Philippines is not exactly a pushover. Yes, this country is still developing its naval capabilities yet, China probably forgot that this country counts the world's mightiest army as its ally.

Not only that, this war will go down in history as a humiliating one for China. China will be perceived as a bully, and will be denounced by many countries of the world for waging war against the Philippines particularly at this time when its many provinces were hit by a supertyphoon.

Will China risks all in exchange for an island? If China moves against us, the entire region there will become a veritable flashpoint and will attract international attention.

Chinese leaders must remember lessons in its History. They must re-read History.

Yes, China has a million men at its disposal and sophisticated military hardware ready for its use. There is one thing which they forget---the Chinese military has not fought for decades in an actual war.

Yes, China has its proxy ways before during the sixties, but this country has not been involved in a direct confrontation with another power. This is a great disadvantage for these Chinese.

So, China is threatening us? Let them come here. I have my bolo with me.

Will the American electorate vote Obama out of office?

US President Barack Obama's voting numbers are the same as that of Republican bet Mitt Romney, a clear set-back already for the First Black American president. Three years ago, Obama's numbers were astronomically high, compared with his nearest competitor. The American public was caught with the Obama bug.

Now, with the economic downturn and the rising pessimism within American society, Obama's star waned and is on the brink of death. There is not enough "Obama-nisms" to counter Republican accusations of economic and external affairs mismanagement. The public is not enamored anymore with stirring speeches reviving the American dream nor talks about overcoming the present problems being encountered by the capitalist giant. With the global recession entering its sixth year, and economic analysts predicting another financial winter coming, there is simply no words anymore fit to reduce anxieties and worries.

Many Americans are realizing that these problems are direct results of the genetic ills of a capitalist state. Overproduction has resulted to stoppage of production in small and medium sized enterprises, the bedrock by which capitalist America depended on for so many years. With the death of SMEs came the rise of giant corporations which knows no race, no nation, and no government when it comes to cutting down costs of production. The locus of production has shifted from American factories to China's million man production crews. This translated into Chinese having jobs, while Americans were left in the lurch.

The middle class, the vanguard class of the American state and society, has dwindled, while the numbers of America's billionaires ballooned. Resources have all been centralized and controlled by a few. With a global downturn, these resources remained under close control and management of a remorse-less elite.

Obama's re-election depended on the fulfillment of his promise of making life more comfortable for Americans. His administration, however, even failed in pushing for substantial legislation which would have eased the hardships being experienced by Americans. Peace and order worsened, and the economy remained in the doldrums.

Will the American electorate negate Obamanism and usher in an iron-fisted Republican crew to save them and their economy from further damage?

Thousands of Filipinos to rally against China today

Thousands of Filipinos are expected to converge infront of the Chinese embassy today in what is billed as the biggest demonstration of Filipino views against Chinese actions in Scarborough Shoal. A Filipino-Chinese will lead the demonstration, which is being supported by several civil society groups.


I hate to say this, but this is wrong for three (3) reasons: one, this will add more tension to the already worsening Sino-RP relations. Both governments are now trying to resolve the impasse at Scarborough. Second, an involvement of citizens at this point will trigger numerous rallies throughout the world against Filipinos. Expect a retaliation from Sinos in countries where they dominate. Lastly, this will further embolden China to make unwise decisions in relation to Spratlys.


I just cannot blame my fellow Filipinos though. China continues to increase its military presence in the area. The tough stance taken by China in this issue endangered negotiations. The Philippines wants third party mediation which China rejected. 


China's tough stance is expected since it is now encountering internal problems. There is a power struggle between the old guards and the new leaders within the Communist Party. There are two sides in the struggle: one, the Socialist side which thinks of further continuing China's progress without sacrificing political power and the other side, which believes in further opening the economy to capital and strengthening China's leadership in the region. Whoever wins in the struggle will affect or dictate the policy direction regarding the Spratlys.


Really, it is not in the best interest of China to continue this tough stance. For one, the reason why it continues to flourish economically is the fact that everything in Asia is stable. This is the only region in the world where there is no serious political tensions. This explains why there is a free flow of trade within the Asia-Pacific region because foreign investments are safely tucked. There is no volatility in the markets.


A "small-scale" war as suggested by the Youth chapter of the Chinese Communist Party is uncalled for. A disruption of the peace in Spratlys will attract mischief throughout the region.  China is right now, miscalculating its chances in a "small-scale war".


Remember that we Filipinos are the best urban guerilla fighters in the world. If China attacks us, we will retaliate with terror. 


At best, China will only deploy ten percent of its million man army. In a hand-to-hand combat, the Chinese reds will surely suffer defeat from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. What the Chinese don't know is that we have a thousand Manny Pacquiaos in our midst. 


If China attacks our urban centers, remember there are thousands of Filipinos with small arms. Surely, urban guerilla tactics will be employed against the Chinese--both in areas where they attack us and in their homeland. 


Filipinos will surely hit China where it hurts the most--their industries. 


However, let it be said that this is not the way which we want this issue resolved. China's leaders must recognize that neo-imperialism is not the way to go. China must develop its Socialist economy towards Communism--the highest ideal. In Socialism, imperialism is not a necessary stage for development. 

China increases presence in Scarborough Shoal

Nine Chinese boats are there now at the Panatag shoal. It's an irony, considering that we, Filipinos, consider the area as a tranquil place. These ships, mostly fishing boats and gunboats are ready ploys. China wants to tell us that we can't fish in there, because the area is theirs. Double irony since those shoals are closer to us, and belongs to our exclusive economic zone, recognized by the UNCLOS, than China's closest shoreline.


What China is trying to say is, if they own the place, and if we serve it to them on the silver platter, expect the thriving sea life there to vanish. This early, Chinese fishermen are on the hunt for endangered sea life, and precious corals. There are there to finish the life off the area. Imagine if we allow these Chinese to exploit these areas. Our fisheries supplies will also be depleted as a consequence.


Predatory--that's how China behaves in Panatag shoal, or what the international community regard as Scarborough shoal. Protective, that's how we position ourselves there. 


I salute those brave and patriotic men of the Coast Guard, the Naval and even the Army who risk their lives just being there. Every single minute, our boats face those of the Chinese. One false move, and the possibility of things just going haywire exist. 


While these things happen, government must plan ahead. President Aquino should form a group that would study the possible scenarios should diplomacy fails. One thing that prevents these things from reaching a tipping point is our long standing relationship with China. 


Our relationship with China has been a very healthy one since our peoples began trading with each other. Before, every Chinese that trades with us, do so with dignity and respect. 


Now, unfortunately, its predatory. 


China must consider that its is better for their interest to consider the Philippines as a strong ally than an enemy. For one, the Chinese people have a very special place in every Pinoy's heart. Throughout Philippine history, the Chinese and the Filipinos have been fighting and struggling together. Now, in the advent of the modern age, both peoples are on the brink of a serious conflict.


Personally, I don't want this to happen. If at all, Filipinos should look up to China as a model for development. The struggles of the Chinese people against imperialist and semi-feudalism are sterling examples which have inspired Filipinos since the forties. Now that China has gotten predatory, it is very sad to know that those who look up to them as inspiration, are now the very ones who will get the brutal end of the bargain if this goes down the wire. 

China sends gunboat to harass the Philippines

Gunboat diplomacy is a very old tactic. It was used in the 19th century and now, at 21st, countries such as China still believes in its efficacy to force an issue.

China flexes its muscles and for what cause? Not to advance the Socialist revolution to other realms in the Asia-Pacific but to harass a small country like us, and try to take over a shoal which is evidently not theirs.

Is China's leaders not thinking at all? Harassing such a small country like us is a shame. Why? Everyone knows that we are as helpless as a mite over a cockroach like China. China is starting to irritate us, and even the United States, but we must fully understand why the Chinese are behaving this way---their economic model which is the fusion of capitalist ideals and values and Socialist politics--is creating some societal problems.

Because Chinese socialism has diluted itself and now, a mockery to true Socialism, what is now a fairly prosperous China under the aegis of the old Chinese Communist Party is now, slowly getting poorer and poorer by the minute.

Wealth is now concentrated in the hands of a few while the many are wallowing in extreme poverty, something which the Chinese leadership wants to hide from its people and from the international community.

Sending a gunboat here hits two problems at the same time: redirects the attention of its people from their suffering to a belief of Chinese supremacy and sends a stirring message to the Filipino government that the shoal and the rest of Kalayaan is theirs for the taking.

What China does not know will kill it. What China does not know will eventually put it to shame.

History is replete with stories of how 300 men decimated an army of 10,000 and how seven dedicated men were able to storm a palace and kill a king.

Yes, China is far superior to us not just militarily but economically. We do have our aces, and China will probably not admit it and continue on its foolishness.

But the let the world know this--we might be small, but such ogres like China stands helpless against a tiny yet determined country such as ours.

CPP-NPA-NDF dips its fingers on mining? WTF?!

The Communist Party of the Philippines issued a statement last September 14, condemning the entry of foreign mining firms in the country. The party devoted so much time writing the statement that it took them a great deal to explain why a Socialist-Mao Zedong revolutionary force is now very interested and very keen on dipping their fingers in the exploration of this country's mineral resources. For decades, note the series of statements issued by the Party and you'll note that these statements are closely related to the 40-year struggle of the Party against the Philippine State. 


Now, the CPP-NPA-NDF is changing tack. It now wants to become an enterprise? It now wants to promote nationalist mining and probably earn millions of dollars worth of revenues from extraction of mines?


This is a far departure from the Party whose sole objective is seizure of political power in the name of the weak, the helpless and the downtrodded. I know that the Party has directed its front organisations such as Alyansa Tigil Mina to liaise with Indigenous Peoples solely to protect their ancestral domains? Don't tell me that the CPP-NPA-NDF will not ask these tribes to abandon their domains once the Party successfully convinces the National Government to call off foreign mining plans in this country and instead grant it to several Party favorites and dummies?


Teddy Casino and Luz Ilagan of Bayan Muna and Gabriela, both organisations under the National Democratic Front are very much active in calling for the repeal of the Mining Act of 1995. Instead of being consistent with the age-old partyline of protecting the Indigenous People's rights and the stand favoring environmental protection, the duo wants nothing more than nationalize mining. They want a repeal because it does not favor the Party's interest, which is dominate the local mining industry.


Meaning, they are really not interested in protecting IP rights---they are now using these tribes to alienate other interests involved in mining so that they will now be the ones to dominate the industry and people it with their own dummies?


My question to Teddy is---where do we get the technology needed to extract tons and tons of copper and gold in our mountains? We buy it, they say. Ok, where do you get experts? There is still a dearth of Pinoy mining engineers and experts. Don't tell me that you'll ask China to partner with you? If you plan so, you're nothing but shameless hypocrites!


I am totally dismayed by the Party stand simply because this campaign against mining distracts the revolutionary movement from its original objective which is armed struggle against the state. Ask any NPA cadre and he'll tell you that the main reason why he joined was he wanted nothing more than change Philippine society. Is mining part of his work as a cadre?


INstead of salivating from the thought of getting millions out of ores, why not completely concentrate on intensifying the struggle against graft and corruption, the Corporatism being perpetuated by the Aquino administration, the increasing poverty of the people and others? There are so many issues more worthy of the party's attention than mining.


Or the Party wants to turn their weapons into digging forks instead of plowshares?


By the way, why is the CPP-NPA-NDF attacking only US mining firms and not Chinese mining firms? China is a foreign power, one of a few exploiting the resources of this country. I have'nt heard any single incident which the NPAs torch the mining plants of the Chinese. Don't tell me that the Party is a stooge of China?

Barack Obama congratulates Noynoy Aquino

US President Barack Obama and Philippine president-elect Noynoy Aquino just spoke over the phone this morning. Obama congratulated Aquino for being the 15th president of the Republic. He also invited Aquino to a meeting soon at the White House.

Earlier, the Chinese government also extended its warmest congratulations to the son of the country's democracy icons, whose phenomenal and surprising win caught the country by surprise.

Unlike his predecessor Mrs. Arroyo, Aquino did not seek Obama's call. It was the US president himself who called the newly proclaimed President of the Republic, without any prodding from Aquino's camp. This shows how high the US regards the new administration.

The US and the Philippines are long-time allies. Under the Aquino administration, the relationship is expected to continue and probably, be warmer than the previous dispensation.

It remains to be seen, however, how the Philippines will deal with contentious issues with the US, especially the Visiting Forces Agreement or VFA. This deal, which certain quarters have demanded a review, remains a thornish issue between the two nations. Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago has demanded for a rescission of the deal, following certain incidents of violations committed by the visiting US forces.

Will Aquino call for a review of the country's defense treaties with the US?

In a highly classified paper I read, the Philippines is regarded right now as the most important ally in Southeast Asia by the United States. Apart from its strategic location, the Philippines is also being eyed as the diplomatic ally of the US in the APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation). APEC is becoming the region's equivalent to the European Union (EU). US trade will be affected should APEC decides to implement a one currency policy in the region and further strengthen its plans of creating a One Asian market.

The Philippines is also a very strategic defense partner of the United States. Both countries have been closely cooperating in the fight against terrorism. US forces based in Mindanao have been seen fighting side by side with their Filipino counterparts in Basilan and Jolo, two islands known for cuddling the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG). Apart from helping gather intelligence data, the US also supplies Philippine troops with sophisticated weapons and trains them on counter-terrorism. This will, undoubtedly, continue under the Aquino administration.

What is under a cloud of doubt though is how will the Philippines position itself with regards to the Korean question. North Korean just attacked a sub of its compatriots in the South and the US is keenly observing the situation. Former Philippine president Gloria Arroyo just visited the North and renewed ties with Asia's rogue state, and we all know how the previous dispensation has strong ties with China, who is a supporter of North Korea.

Will the Philippines support the US position or remains "neutral" in deference to its other ally, China.

RP-China relations have been warm and accommodating since 2001. Most governmental projects were granted to China, even those involving sensitive industries, like the telecommunications. Now, will the Aquino administration continue these deals, especially those involving the exploitation of our natural resources?

As what the president-elect told the media in his first press conference yesterday, shortly after he is proclaimed as President, Aquino said he will review everything so that the most concrete and accurate solution will be given.

Chip Tsao as Chi-Tae

Chip Tsao (a Hongkong based journalist writing on some unknown publication) seems to be losing sleep nowadays over some scattered rocks on the disputed Spratlys islands. He was able to sleep soundly when the Japanese put their flag over at Diaoyu Island. That, to him, is okey. Chip Tsao is a Japanese spy, a lover of Japanese anime and a veritable lover even of Japanese slapstick and Japanese porno. For a Chinese like him, Japanese are superior race. He would probably even appreciate if his mother would change partners and partner with a Japanese fisherman. That's why BBC probably kicked his butt. He's Chinese yet he wants to change his race. Chip Tsao is a racial cross-dresser.

That's why Chip Tsao became incest when Filipinos raised their flag over what has been their islands and possessions since the days when Tsao was still house tsa'a. For one who has been with a Filipina assistant for quite some time, whom he treats as his veritable slave, Tsao must have thought that the race of his Filipina assistant will forever be subservient to foreign tastes. He is. He's a lover of everything Japanese, yet he's Chinese. And he wants even his assistants to be like him, a racial cross-dresser.

For Chip Tsao, a slave is a slave forever, just like him, a slave of everything Japanese. He would like Japan to even pin their flag on Hongkong soil or possibly pierce his behind with that Japanese stick. It's inconceivable for Chip Tsao to think that his government, a known bully in the South China seas and an exporter of everything dangerous to humans, to have been humiliated by this slave race. He can't seem to buy that idea that Filipinos now, as he describes as those who clean his toilets, to now tell him, straight in his pimpled face " Up Yours!"

Maybe Chip Tsao fears that Filipinos would stop patronizing cheap Chinese products. Maybe Chip Tsao fears of becoming Chi-Tae, a classic comedic character every Filipino loves.

Chip Tsao is losing sleep nowadays. He's in a fit of envious frenzy. He's even near neurotic. For someone who can't do what he pleases under a pseudo-socialist regime, Chip Tsao should probably worry. When the Chinese government learns that he's a cross-dresser and a war-monger, he'll probably be tasked to clean those toilets in the Kalayaan islands.

China should re-read the Baselines Bill

Unknown to many, I once worked as Foreign Affairs Specialist at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). I was detailed at the department's think-tank, the Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies (CIRSS) or what we all call "sears". Handling the economic diplomacy desk, I was one of those who recommended and accurately predicted the inclusion of China in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the possible re-organization of the regional trade organizations into multilateral economic zones. This is happening right now.

This latest caper by China, issuing a protest over the Senate's watered down version of the Archipelagic Baselines Bill is a comedy, a laughable thing which, probably stemmed from the inability of the Philippine Charge d'Affairs in Beijing to translate the bill to Mandarin. The statement is a knee-jerk reaction from the Chinese, albeit, done grinning sheepishly while saying it. Come on, China. We both know that the bill diluted our claims to the Kalayaan Islands and Scarborough shoal. Under the "regime of islands" concept in the UNCLOS, the version practically abandoned the claims, and yet, you protest. And for what?

Because we did'nt unilaterally dropped the entire claim, as you suggested in talks with the Arroyo administration late last year? Your attaches and political operators went into full high-gear diplomacy with our Congressmen, those very close to Arroyo, to ask our government to abandon the claims in exchange for commercial transaction of the Congressmen's self-appointed companies and a whooping government-to-government loan under the China Exim bank.

Former UN representative Lauro Baja already told the whole world that the Philippines erred in passing that version since it effectively handed over to you the entire Kalayaan archipelago. You can now exploit those territories for themselves, says Baja.

China should re-read the bill and revert back to us with a reasonable answer.

Clinton slaps Arroyo while Arroyo snaps back with Smith

The timing is impeccable. It deserves both our derision and praise.

The Supreme Court released a decision on convicted American rapist Daniel Smith, the very same week new US State department Hillary Clinton does her Asian trip. Shortly after the SC released the decision, temperatures again rose when civil society groups and the media try to revive nationalist passions against US inaction to hand over the rapist.

Is this a case of just "papansin", or in English, PDA meaning Public Display of Anger?

Obviously, the Smith case is a classic propaganda campaign meant to convince Obama and his administration that the Philippines is more relevant, than, say Indonesia or Thailand.

Those obvious snubs which Obama gave Arroyo and this slap by Clinton shows how strained relations between the Arroyo administration and the US government is right now.

This explains why the Arroyo administration is getting cozier with the Chinese than Obama, to the point that the government dangled the Kalayaan and Scarborough shoals as bait to the Americans.

The gambit did'nt work. That's why Arroyo is now dangling Smith before the nose of Obama and Clinton, trying to get their attention and for what? To save her administration? Or probably, to save her skin and that of her husband, who obviously, faces the prospect of arrest due to money laundering?

China triumphs with the loss of Kalayaan

Last night, the Senate passed the modified version of the Baselines bill. This version, our sources say, is the one "approved" by the Chinese government. Essentially, the bill conveniently excluded the seas and oceans between the Kalayaan Islands and Scarborough shoals under our regime of islands, which, effectively means that we don't own those prime properties. This is the official abandonment of our claims to these islands which were discovered by a Filipino and occupied by Filipinos.

It's now up to the President to sign the bill and pass it to the UNCLOS or the United Nations Convention on the Laws of the Sea. The UN will take note of this and put it as our answer to numerous queries on our definite position regarding this contentious issue.

If Arroyo signs this into law, this act alone would effectively demolish decades of positioning we took before regional and world bodies in relation to Kalayaan and Scarborough shoals. It laid waste millions of pesos we spent in legal research and trips abroad when we tried to convince the world that these oil-rich islands are ours.

Now, what would then happen to our "part" in the joint exploration agreement? Surely, China and Vietnam would squirm at giving us our share in the proceeds of this joint exploration since we now claim that these islands are not part of official Philippine territory.

So, do we benefit from this baselines bill? No. Who now rejoices at this one? Of course, China.

As I wrote in previous entries, this government is selling prime Philippine property at break-neck speed, possibly because it's only a few months before they write finis to their evil governance. This bill is the biggest real estate sellout in history. After giving our Zambales mines to China and at least 20% of our agricultural lands for the food security requirements of the Chinese, we are now giving away precious oil resources for a measly sum of US$ 8 billion when we could have asked foreign companies to develop these resources and mine those undersea oil.

We say, we're weak and we're not in the position to negotiate or sustain our claims to these islands. That's not reason enough. This is the golden age of diplomacy. And it's far-fetched that China would go to war with us simply because of Kalayaan. We have the Mutual Defense Treaty with the United States. This is a statute which protects us from future foreign invasions.

What this shows is that China is officially now the biggest shadow behind the Philippine government. China now influences policy-making in the Philippines, which is not at all surprising, given that we do have strong ties with the Bamboo Curtain long before the West arrived in our shores. We just reverted back to our pre-Spanish situation where early Filipinos give tributes to the Chinese emperor.

Now, it seems, that we have China in our back while we gnawl and snarl at Uncle Sam. How things have changed. It just shows you that we don't need a Joma Sison to turn this country into a protectorate of China. We just need an Arroyo, teaming up with an Enrile, a Santiago and a Nograles to make this a reality which Joma and the rest of the guys tried for forty years to do.

Congress Just Sold our Kalayaan

While we worry about the next meal and bow our heads in shame over so many scandals involving government, now comes Congress with another sellout. The Bicameral Conference committee has just approved a version of the Baselines Bill that effectively excluded the Kalayaan Islands and Scarborough isles from Philippine territory.

This version, which Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile termed as the “best” that these legislators can come up so far, is slated to be approved by both Houses and submitted for signature to the President. Former Philippine Representative to the United Nations Lauro Baja was shocked to learn that this 14th Congress has just sold out the claim of the Philippines in a nonchalant fashion. This bill effectively erased decades of debates and studies undertaken by our country’s diplomats just to defend our claims to these oil-rich islands. And what was the reason of these “distinguished” traitors, err, legislators?

” The Chinese and the Vietnamese will go to war against us if we continue our claims, ” says Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile. Enrile must have probably thought that we’re in the 19th century where gunboat diplomacy was the norm rather than the exception in international diplomacy. Or, probably he thinks that all Filipinos are octogenarians, weak and unable to defend their own lands against foreign intrusions. Enrile must have been asleep. For, ever octogenarians among us, who fought those global wars and survived, will fight on for their country, unlike this prodigal son from the North who shake with fear just by the very prospect of hearing a whimper of protest by these wealthy Chinese Communists.

This bogey, it seems, was created just to justify the obvious sellout of these islands. And for what cost, you ask? China reportedly offered US$ 8 billion in loans just for the Philippines to drop its claim in the Kalayaan islands.

Why are we so obsessed with selling our islands, our mountains, our lands, our rivers and streams? Have we no love for our beloved country? Have we forgotten that our heroes and forebears fought with their lives and their blood just to create this Nation of 82 million souls living in 7,100 islands? Maybe, it’s our perverse understanding of the concepts of a borderless world? Or maybe, just maybe, some of us, particularly those who we elected as leaders, are so obsessed and hungry to get hold of that US$ 8 billion bonanza that they don’t think about the disastrous effects of such a sellout to future generations?

We are so unfortunate to have a Senate President that thinks he owes his post to the Chinese and the Vietnamese Communists. We are so unlucky to have a Speaker who wants to sell every parcel of prime property to foreigners by lifting Constitutional provisions. These former bar top-notchers are the country’s foremost real estate agents who think they owe their lives to their patron, under the ignominious name of Gloria Arroyo.

Such a waste of talent, these two men of traitorous natures. It is a shame that we now live in a generation where graduates of AIM, in the likes of Celso delos Angeles Jr. use their talents to scam people out of their lifesavings. It is a shame that brilliant legal minds, such as these two men from the North and the South, conspiring to offer the Philippines as a tribute to their Chinese masters in Beijing. Shame that these so-called “brave men” who fought the dictatorship, are now the ones carving these beautiful country into little fiefdoms and selling those islands to the Chinese, an obvious admission of the frailities of our crooked souls.

” RP is for sale.” We have sold our morals already. We gave up our brothers and sisters to Middle Eastern masters due to poverty. We sold our organs, our bodies, to the highest bidder from Europe and the United States. Now, we are selling the very land, the very soil, we tread and we owe our very lives.

What’s so sad is that we don’t mind giving these islands to foreigners. When we were presented with the prospect of peace with our fellow Muslim kin last year, with the MOA-AD, we screamed and threatened to unleash the dogs of war against our blood brothers. Yet, when we now see the prospect of losing our claims to these islands and also face the prospect of losing yet another, this time, Sabah, silence.

We deserve our slavery.

The Unity of Opposites

My eyes feasted on the explosion of colors and the sheer symmetry of human forms paying homage to the majesty of nature. Truly, the Beijing Olympics is the most beautiful of all the past Olympics games opening of all time.

What made it extremely beautiful and distinctly the most memorable, is its message–all of humanity are one. And China is the truest living testament of that unity.

For thousands of years, China was a fragmented country composed of differing tribes and kingdoms. It was only when the Chin dynasty in 221 BC subjugated its last adversarial state that China was formed. What we see as China today is the result of centuries of state evolution. That process involved civil wars, revolutions and subjugations in the name of Unity.

Now, China is one of the world’s emerging economic powerhouses. It is poised to assume its destiny–that of being the anti-thesis of America. China is on its way of realizing its dream of being the “center of the earth”.

And China knows that that dream is just an arm’s length away. Its foremost adversary, the United States, is facing economic stagnation. Its paradigm of subjugation is also wasting away. China also realized that it is not the use of "isms" that world dominion can be achieved. It is the spread of Chinese culture that enables them to conquer the world stage.

China is telling us that unity can be achieved without bloodshed. That tolerance of one’s culture is the way to go. And that unity can be achieved with harmony with nature, as what the Tai Chi symbolizes. The Unity of Opposites can be the harmony that we want to achieve.

And China is celebrating because it is leading a global cultural revolution. That opening salvo is their Baccalian way of celebrating their triumph in the world stage. They are in the midst of conquering the world with harmony, not of war.

Well, tell that to the Tibetans.

The Meralco Gambit

Let's set aside our partisan thoughts about the Lopezes and pause for a while and think about the repercussions of today's Meralco stockholder's meeting.

True enough, as what we wrote in the Filipinovoices.com, Garcia's ploy of using proxies backfired. The Lopezes mustered more than the number of proxies that Garcia was able to generate. Realizing this a day earlier, Garcia filed a complaint with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It was, however, too late in the game. Garcia was distracted by numerous media inquiries that he failed to do his assignment.

Those scenes we saw on TV Patrol and over at ANC shows you graphically how government interference could backfire and lead to a real mess. That scene showing Garcia standing up and shouting at all those stockholders show you how a member of Gloria's mafia gang thinks about himself as an overlord of this country.

Surely, the ruckus created by the government in a private entreprise such as Meralco could dampen investor confidence in the independence and integrity of the local business community. Those scenes of confusion, of chaos, and of disorder shows one how messy a situation would become if government interferes in a legitimate business operation. True, the Lopezes could be profitting more than it can legally chew. True, the Lopezes could be mismanaging Meralco and charging us exorbitant fees. And true, the Lopezes could be entering into those sweetheart deals that impacts on the rates they're charging us.

Yet, the cost of dislodging this aristocrat from their crown jewel is more expensive than its intended result. The intended result is a lowered electricity rate, right? But, if done in an expensive gambit like this could do more harm than good. Imagine these scenes being repeated in other countries' television, what would foreign investors think about us? How many billions of dollars' worth of investment did we lose? How many billions more did we lose in tourism? Quite considerable if I may be asked.

Government's continued harassment and intimidation tactics against the Lopezes set a very dangerous precedent. It shows how this government is slowly turning into a rapacious corporate raider and destroyer of enterprise. It shows that government is using the people's money for corporate raids which will not in any way, benefit the suffering Filipino People.

This gambit of Gloria backfired. First, it showed how powerful the Lopezes are compared with the Garcias, the Aboitizes, the Alcantaras, and the Arroyos of this land. Second, it showed how teethless the SEC is. And third, it shows how inept and foolish government becomes when the people allow it to continually perpetuate its proto-dictatorial powers especially on businesses.

I hate to say it, but this gambit of Garcia could further erode the people's confidence and could be used to justify extra-constitutional means to dislodge this evil regime from the face of the Motherland.

Business and civil society should unite and show Gloria the true source of power. Let everyone unite behind the movement for change and throw this evil regime out. Then, after throwing them out and exiling them to China, then, let's resume this fight against the Lopezes. By then, the entire nation would probably rally behind us.

Piece-meal sale of RP: PART 2

In the next decade, analysts predict China overturning the US as the world's foremost superpower. However, for China to supplant the US in that enviable position, it would have to address one basic problem: energy.

China needs to satisfy its energy requirements to power those turbines, those sweat factories and those facilities which comprise the entire Chinese economy. As things stand now, China is unable to adequately supply power to these critical sectors. With rising crude prices and increasing population, China needs to find two things: build alternative energy sources or rely on traditional sources to sustain the momentum of its economic growth. Relying on Middle Eastern countries might work, but, as energy analysts know, its non-sustaining. Oil mines are drying up in some parts of the world, hence, the rising prices of world crude. Oil companies are on the lookout for other areas to mine. The steady depletion of coal and oil presents a very scary scenario for world governments. And China is not spared from all these.

So, on the doctrine of economic specialization, it is to the best interest of China to not only explore but CONTROL potential oil mines. In order to control these mines, they need to control governments, especially weak ones like ours. Chinese strategy is very simple--control the economy, you control the government. That's why China is an ardent supporter of globalization because it affords them access to hitherto closed economies. China needs energy resources that they can buy cheap or even get for free.

Unexplored areas such as those of the Philippines present a viable, if not, a very rich resource for the Chinese. As I study some executive agreements entered by this government with China, I was shocked to learn that the Spratlys deal is not only the deal that effectively surrendered national patrimony over not only natural resources, but there are some other executive agreements involving thousands of hectares of prime agricultural lands. And we already negotiated not only our lands, but our aquamarine and forest resources!

I am not at liberty to expose these agreements now because I am still studying them. At this early stage though, I am telling you, my dear readers, that these agreements are very, very disturbing. These agreements are all in the guise of commercial tieups but the effects are totally jarring to us and compromises not only our patrimony, our freedom, but also our rights as a people.

These agreements are very, very deceptive and very partial to Chinese interests. For example, there is an agreement which effectively surrendered 3 million hectares of prime Philippine agricultural lands to the Chinese in the name of "economic cooperation"! I would agree with UP Prof. Carlos on the concept of de-nationalization of nation-states, and deep within me, I am an advocate of the destruction of the concept of nation-state and the propagation of open economies or what we now call regional or sub-regional supra-states (conglomeration of states into one). Yet, I am still not prepared to accept the merging of Chinese and Philippine interests since at this point when the Philippine nation-state is very weak and fragile, the Philippines is in no position to negotiate. We are in a position of weakness (wracked by internal politics and unstable economy) and therefore, instead of negotiating for more foreign intervention in our affairs, we should instead, fortify our economic foundations and political structures so that we can effectively enter into deals that promote our interests instead of subverting them for foreign interests, like China's.

What we are seeing right now is the slow and effective conquest of this country in the name of globalization and economic cooperation. Economic cooperation, don't get me wrong, is best when both countries are equal. However, if we negotiate with the purview of getting more loans, these are not equitable negotiations. These are lopsided ones which calls for closer scrutiny by the People.

In the next few days, I will be exposing these agreements. Read them please. Judge for yourself how this administration sold our patrimony for a few billions of dollars. And decide if these sales are worth it.

But, I assure you, if you love this country, if you treasure your Motherland and take pride in your roots as a Filipino, you will rise up and call for the sacking of this administration. Being a Filipino is not just a name. Its just not the one you write in a space devoted to "citizenship". It means more than that. I pray to my God that, in the near foreseeable future, everyone living in this country would realize how valuable being called a Filipino is.

Graftology and Our New Colonial Master

National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales says the worst is over. I think not. There's always calm before a storm. And the absence of events prior to March 14 could be that calm.

Or, I could be wrong.

However, even though I'm wrong, it's totally surprising why anti-GMA groups suddenly ceased all actions and activities in preparation for that big March 14 rally (as being touted in the media). Why the cessation of all activities?

Could it be that groups have exhausted their resources? Maybe. Could it be that they heeded the call of Malacanan for a Lenten truce? Could be. Or maybe, just maybe, groups are so disunited right now that actions can't be coordinated properly? Possibly.

The deadline for Mrs. Arroyo to scrap EO 464 has been met by Arroyo. Could this be the reason? I doubt it. Because if this is the reason, then, groups are so trusting, so easy to guile by the wiles of the evil woman. Despite the scrapping of EO 464, truth continues to be muzzled by Malacanang. Wala namang nabago (nothing has changed). Officials continue to snub the Senate hearings. And the hearings are being discredited with the appearance of witnesses like Leo San Miguel who continues to mock us with their snobbery and high-handiness.

Businessmen like Leo San Miguel should not be allowed by the People to do business here. We don't need big-time operators like Leo San Miguel to further mock us with their so-called "expertise". He mocked the Filipino People. And that's the greatest sin ever to be done by just one person.

One thing is for sure--China remains a looming shadow in all our policy-making, as if we are now a protectorate of this emerging giant. China says its investments or commercial agreements here amounts to US$ 30 Billion, about US$ 21 billion in smuggled cheap goods.

We have a new colonial master---China.

Dime a dozen analyst

Tomorrow, March 11, transport groups will try to paralyze the entire country. Various transport groups have joined forces to demand for the end of corruption in the streets. They are fighting for the revocation of the OVR or the Official Violation Receipt. Leaders say its a source of corruption. And, like other groups calling for the resignation of Gloria, they are also after the eradication of graft and corruption. I will be praying for their success.

Dime a dozen analyst

What I would like to write today is not about this rally. I would like to ask the people not to believe so-called security analysts like "Prof." Rommel Banlaoi who continues to defend the anomalous Spratlys deal.

I read the document and clearly, it is violative of the 1987 Constitution. Under the Constitution, it is only the Philippine government that can exploit the natural resources of this country. Government may allow private companies to explore these resources but the use of these resources, particularly oil, should be for the benefit of the People.

Under this agreement, no such provisions exist. Banlaoi says what's the big fuss about this agreement--it's a deal likened to the Military Bases Agreement (MBA) where China will act as a "renter" "occupier" or "lessor" while the Philippines will act as "lessee". How stupid!

This deal is different my former comrade because it involves the exploitation of our resources. We cannot allow a foreign government to "study, explore and exploit" natural resources there. It's like telling them to go rent our land and if you find a treasure there, keep it. Under our Civil Code, treasures or resources found in one's property is its own (of course, giving a portion to the government). So, we cannot allow another foreign occupier to have an "MBA-like" agreement.

Banlaoi does not know what he's talking about. Like his other erroneous prognoses and researches about terrorism and security issues in this country, Banlaoi is not fit to be called "security analyst". I have been part of a government think tank before, and I fully understand the security implications of this deal, which, unfortunately, "security analysts" like Banlaoi deems "unimportant". Banlaoi just wants to courtsey to the powers-that-be in the palace, while doing a great disservice to the Filipino People in turn.

That piece of land called Spratlys

As I wrote here and in my other blog redbluethoughts.today.com, Arroyo has indeed committed a grave travesty of justice when she entered into an agreement for joint exploration of the Spratlys with China. Everybody knows that China is suffering from a power crunch. The demands for power increases as one's economy expands and grows. That's why demands for crude on a global scale has reached 100 dollars a barrel because of China and other economies.

JDV defended this agreement, saying that it was a "political solution" to prevent a further escalation of hostilities in the region. If, as JDV says, that agreement is indeed a political solution, why was it not crafted in accordance with the ASEAN solution? It should have been submitted for consultation with other claimant nations, given the sensitivities of the issue. But, no. The Philippines, being a weak state, was forced into a situation where it can't really extricate itself from a very dangerous situation.

Also, the agreement called for exploration of a place within Philippine territory where claimant nations cannot lay claim on. That place, which is near the Malampaya oil exploration site, is not, I say, not within the purview of claims. So, indeed, that agreement infringed on the territorial integrity of the Philippines and should be closely scrutinized by the Senate and other bodies.

Effects of such investigation

The Senate, under the Constitution, has the power to review executive agreements such as these. However, the Senate should tread so lightly as to not affect the sensitivities of other nations.

In the case of China, the Senate should not be cowed by light threats from Arroyo that it could affect relations with the emerging giant. China needs us more than we need them. We have a huge market, one of the biggest in the region. If Chinese traders lose this market, they would lose billions and billions of dollars worth of investment. So, we have an ace in our sleeves. Likewise, our strategic location affords them an easy access to the US mainland.

In these two reasons alone, that is enough for us to gain concessions from China, instead of China, asking for concessions from us. Why is this administration so subservient to China?

Because of pressure coming from business groups close to this administration. They have businesses in the mainland which could be affected by these inquiries.

Solution

Groups should sacrifice Arroyo. All these things are being forced into the open because of the graft and corruption of her administration. It would be very expedient to all these groups to cut Arroyo's head now before all these other agreements are revealed for all the world to see.

They must act now before its too late.

These things convince me further that Arroyo's numbers are up.
